Abstract

Methods and systems for a persistent request generated by a wireless device, executed remotely and output to configurable local resources are described and may include generating via a handheld wireless communication device (HWCD) a persistent request for a user that may be communicated to remote devices for execution and storage of results. The stored results may be received from local resources local which may be configured by the remote devices based on user preferences to deliver the stored results to the user. The stored results may be received by the user via the HWCD or another wireless communication device, and the identity of the user may be authenticated prior to receiving the stored results. The remote devices may discover the local resources based on the detection of the user logging into the network. User preferences may be stored in networked devices or may be stored in the HWCD.

Claims

1. A method for communicating in a network, comprising:

generating, by a communications device, a request for media content, the request extending over a period of time;

discovering a local resource available for media consumption; and

communicating, by the communications device, the request to a remote device for execution of the request, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource to receive the media content for consumption.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

notifying the remote device of the local resource; and

receiving, from the remote device, tuning information associated with the request, in response to the notifying.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising detecting when the communications device enters or leaves a service area of the network.

4. The method according to claim 3, further comprising receiving the media content from the remote device, when the communications device enters the service area of the network during the execution of the request by the remote device.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource by tuning the local resource.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource according to user preferences associated with a user of the communications device.

7. The method according to claim 1, further comprising determining a match between a capability of the local resource and a user preference associated with the request

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the local resource comprises a radio or a television.

9. The method according to claim 1, further comprising notifying the remote device of a current location of the communications device.

10. A system for communicating in a network, comprising:

processing circuitry residing within a communications device and operable to;

generate a request for media content, the request extending over a period of time;

discover a local resource available for media consumption; and

communicate the request to a remote device for execution of the request, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource to receive the media content for consumption.

11. The system according to claim 10, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to:

notify the remote device of the local resource; and

receive, from the remote device, tuning information associated with the request.

12. The system according to claim 10, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to detect when the communications device enters or leaves a service area of the network.

13. The system according to claim 12, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to receive the media content from the remote device, when the communications device enters the service area of the network during the execution of the request by the remote device.

14. The system according to claim 10, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource according to user preferences associated with a user of the communications device.

15. The system according to claim 10, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to determine a match between a capability of the local resource and a user preference associated with the request

16. The system according to claim 10, wherein the local resource comprises a radio or a television.

17. A method for communicating in a network, comprising:

generating, by a communications device, a request for media content, the request extending over a period of time;

discovering a local resource available for media consumption;

communicating, by the communications device, the request to a remote device for execution of the request; and

notifying the remote device of the local resource, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource.

18. The method according to claim 17, further comprising detecting when the communications device enters or leaves a service area of the network.

19. The method according to claim 18, further comprising receiving the media content from the remote device, when the communications device enters the service area of the network during the execution of the request by the remote device.

20. The method according to claim 17, wherein the execution of the request configures the local resource according to user preferences associated with a user of the communications device.
