Abstract

A cloud infrastructure system includes one or more computing devices and is configured to receive subscription order information related to one or more services subscribed to by a customer of the cloud infrastructure system, the service selected from one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system. The cloud infrastructure system receives a set of one or more mapping rules configured to map business attributes to resource provisioning information for one or more of the one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system. The cloud infrastructure system determines whether one or more business attributes in the subscription order information satisfy one or more mapping rules in the set of mapping rules and generates resource provisioning information for one or more resources associated with the one or more services based on resource provisioning information in the one or more mapping rules satisfied by the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

storing, by a cloud infrastructure system, subscription order information related to one or more services subscribed to by a customer of the cloud infrastructure system, the service selected from one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system, the cloud infrastructure system comprising one or more computing devices;

storing, by a computing device from the one or more computing devices, a set of one or more mapping rules configured to map business attributes to resource provisioning information for one or more of the one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system;

determining, by the one or more computing devices, whether one or more business attributes in the subscription order information satisfy one or more mapping rules in the set of mapping rules; and

generating, by the one or more computing devices, resource provisioning information for one or more resources associated with the one or more services based on resource provisioning information in the one or more mapping rules satisfied by the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information represent licensed user counts, application modules, sub-modules, application features, additional resources needed, or service levels to be provided.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein each mapping rule in the set of one or more mapping rules specifies one or more business attributes that need to be matched for the mapping rule to be satisfied.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein each mapping rule in the set of one or more mapping rules specifies information indicative of how to allocate one or more resources for a service or component of a service associated with the mapping rule.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a value related to a service in the one or more services subscribed to by the customer in response the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information and a weighing factor associated with the service indicated by the one or more mapping rules satisfied by at least the first business attribute;

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a value related to a component of the service in response to the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information and a weighing factor associated with the component indicated in the one or more mapping rule satisfied by at least the first business attribute; and

generating, by the one or more computing devices, information indicative of an amount of resources to be provisioned for the service based on the value for the service and the value for the component of the service.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a value related to a first service in the one or more services subscribed to by the customer in response the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information;

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a value related to a second service in the one or more services subscribed to by the customer in response the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information; and

generating, by the one or more computing devices, information indicative of an amount of resources to be provisioned for the first and second services based on the value for the first service and the value for the second service.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a value related to a first component of a service in the one or more services subscribed to by the customer in response the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information;

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a value related to a second component of the service in response the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information; and

generating, by the one or more computing devices, information indicative of an amount of resources to be provisioned for the first and second components based on the value for the first component and the value for the second component.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein storing the set of one or more mapping rules comprises receiving an XML document defining the one or more mapping rules.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein generating the resource provisioning information for the one or more resources associated with the one or more services comprises generating information allowing the one or more resources to be provisioned in real-time for the one or more services.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein generating the resource provisioning information for the one or more resources associated with the one or more services comprises generating information allocating one or more pre-provisioned resources as the one or more resources for the one or more services.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein the resource provisioning information indicates how to scale the one or more pre-provisioned resources for the one or more services.

12. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

generating, by the one or more computing devices, a notification based on the resource provisioning information.

13. The method of claim 12 wherein the notification indicates the amount of resources to be allocated, the cost of the resources to be allocated, or whether the customer is allowed to purchase fewer or additional resources than that specified in the subscription order information.

14. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing code executable by one or more computing devices in a cloud infrastructure system, the non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising:

code for receiving subscription order information related to one or more services subscribed to by a customer of the cloud infrastructure system, the service selected from one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system;

code for receiving a set of one or more mapping rules configured to map business attributes to resource provisioning information for one or more of the one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system, the resource provisioning information generated in response to one or more business models indicative of how customers are expected to utilizes service resources and performance information for a plurality of allocation levels of service resources;

code for determining how values of one or more business attributes in the subscription order information that satisfy one or more mapping rules in the set of mapping rules are weighted according to information in the one or more mapping rules; and

code for generating resource provisioning information for one or more resources associated with the one or more services based on how the values of the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information that satisfy the one or more mapping rules in the set of mapping rules are weighted.

15. A cloud infrastructure system comprising one or more computing devices, the cloud infrastructure system configured to:

receive subscription order information related to one or more services subscribed to by a customer of the cloud infrastructure system, the service selected from one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system;

receive a set of one or more mapping rules configured to map business attributes to resource provisioning information for one or more of the one or more services provided by the cloud infrastructure system;

determine whether one or more business attributes in the subscription order information satisfy one or more mapping rules in the set of mapping rules; and

generate resource provisioning information for one or more resources associated with the one or more services based on resource provisioning information in the one or more mapping rules satisfied by the one or more business attributes in the subscription order information.
