Abstract

A method for controlling the provisioning of a service associated with a customer order is disclosed. The method may comprise receiving, by a cloud infrastructure system, an order for a service from a plurality of service provided by the cloud infrastructure system, the cloud infrastructure system comprising one or more computing devices. Additionally, the method may comprise determining, by a computing device from the one or more computing devices, based upon a set of rules and system-related information, whether the order is to be forwarded for provisioning one or more resources for enabling the order. Then, based upon the determining, the method may forward the order for provisioning of the one or more resources or not forwarding the order for provisioning.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

storing, by a cloud infrastructure system, an order for a service from a plurality of service provided by the cloud infrastructure system, the cloud infrastructure system comprising one or more computing devices;

determining, by a computing device from the one or more computing devices, based upon a set of rules and system-related information, whether the order is to be forwarded for provisioning one or more resources for enabling the order; and

based upon the determining, forwarding the order for provisioning of the one or more resources or not forwarding the order for provisioning.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the set of rules include a customer priority list and the system-related information includes a threshold limit for available resources specific to a given service.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the determining comprises:

determining that the threshold limit for available resources specific to the given service associated with the order has been passed;

determining that the order is from a preferred customer according to the customer priority list; and

determining that the order is to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining comprises:

determining that the order should be marked as failed and resubmitted; and

determining that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining comprises:

determining that the order should be sent to workflow for a manual approval by the administrator; and

determining that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order until manually approved by the administrator.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining comprises:

determining that the order should be paused based on the set of rules and the system-related information; and

determining that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order until the system-related information has been updated with an available capacity notification for provisioning the order.

7. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

notifying an administrator to increase capacity for provisioning the one or more resources based on the system-related information.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the set of rules further include rules based on a received timestamp associated with the customer order.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the set of rules further include rules based on an order processing mode.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the order processing mode includes:

open plus optional invitation;

manual approval;

invitation only;

or invitation plus manual approval.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein system-related information includes:

usage statistics for each service, an amount of storage used for each service, an amount data transferred for each service, number of users, an amount of system up time, an amount of system down time.

12. A system comprising:

one or more computing devices configurable to offer a set of cloud services;

memory configurable to store an order for a service from the set of cloud service provided by the cloud infrastructure system; and

wherein a computing device from the one or more computing devices configurable to;

determine based upon a set of rules and system-related information, whether the order is to be forwarded for provisioning one or more resources for enabling the order; and

based upon the determination, forward the order for provisioning of the one or more resources or not forwarding the order for provisioning.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the set of rules include a customer priority list and the system-related information includes a threshold limit for available resources specific to a given service.

14. The system of claim 13, further configured to:

determine that the threshold limit for available resources specific to the given service associated with the order has been passed;

determine that the order is from a preferred customer according to the customer priority list; and

determine that the order is to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order.

15. The system of claim 12, further configured to:

determine that the order should be marked as failed and resubmitted; and

determine that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order.

16. The system of claim 12, further configured to:

determine that the order should be sent to workflow for a manual approval by the administrator; and

determine that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order until manually approved by the administrator.

17. The system of claim 12, further configured to:

determining that the order should be paused based on the set of rules and the system-related information; and

determining that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order until the system-related information has been updated with an available capacity notification for provisioning the order.

18. The system of claim 12, further configured to:

notifying an administrator to increase capacity for provisioning the one or more resources based on the system-related information.

19. The system of claim 12, wherein the set of rules further include rules based on a received timestamp associated with the customer order.

20. The system of claim 12, wherein the set of rules further include rules based on an order processing mode.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the order processing mode includes:

open plus optional invitation;

manual approval;

invitation only;

or invitation plus manual approval.

22. The system of claim 12, wherein system-related information includes:

usage statistics for each service, an amount of storage used for each service, an amount data transferred for each service, number of users, an amount of system up time, an amount of system down time.

23. One or more computer-readable media storing computer executable instructions for a cloud infrastructure system configured to offer a set of cloud services that, when executed, cause one or more computing devices in the cloud infrastructure to:

store an order for a service from the set of cloud service provided by the cloud infrastructure system;

determine based upon a set of rules and system-related information, whether the order is to be forwarded for provisioning one or more resources for enabling the order; and

based upon the determination, forward the order for provisioning of the one or more resources or not forwarding the order for provisioning.

24. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, wherein the set of rules include a customer priority list and the system-related information includes a threshold limit for available resources specific to a given service.

25. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 24, further comprising instruction to:

determine that the threshold limit for available resources specific to the given service associated with the order has been passed;

determine that the order is from a preferred customer according to the customer priority list; and

determine that the order is to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order.

26. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, further comprising instruction to:

determine that the order should be marked as failed and resubmitted; and

determine that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order.

27. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, further comprising instruction to:

determine that the order should be sent to workflow for a manual approval by the administrator; and

determine that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order until manually approved by the administrator.

28. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, further comprising instruction to:

determining that the order should be paused based on the set of rules and the system-related information; and

determining that the order is not to be forwarded for provisioning of the one or more resources for enabling the order until the system-related information has been updated with an available capacity notification for provisioning the order.

29. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, further comprising instruction to:

notifying an administrator to increase capacity for provisioning the one or more resources based on the system-related information.

30. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, wherein the set of rules further include rules based on a received timestamp associated with the customer order.

31. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, wherein the set of rules further include rules based on an order processing mode.
