Abstract

Software replaces album art stored in metadata of a music file with a personalized picture that is displayed when the music file is played on a music player device. The personalized picture may be selected from diverse sources such as social media sites or hard drives on computers. The personalized music file may be gifted to intended recipients and downloaded to their music player devices. The personalized picture is displayed when the personalized music file is played on the music player device.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a non-transitory memory storing program code;

one or more processors, coupled to the memory, and configured to execute the program code to;

receive an identification of a selected song, an associated picture, a gift recipient address and a personalized message;

overlay a copy of cover art stored in metadata of a digital music file of the selected song on the associated picture to form an overlaid associated picture;

delete the cover art stored in the metadata;

insert the overlaid associated picture into the metadata to form a personalized digital music file; and

deliver the personalized digital music file to the gift recipient.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 with the one or more processors further configured to:

receive payment for each digital music file that is to be personalized.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 with the one or more processors further configured to:

display a user interface that enables selection of pictures from social media sites and networked storage devices.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 where the digital music file is an MP3 file.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 with the one or more processors further configured to:

display a user interface that enables entry of an intended recipient address and a personalized message.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 with the one or more processors further configured to:

bundle all personalized digital music file intended for a recipient and email a tokenized URL to the recipient for downloading bundled personalized digital music files.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 with the one or more processors further configured to:

display a user interface for first selecting a song and then selecting a picture to associate with the song.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 with the one or more processors further configured to:

display a user interface for first selecting a picture and then associating a song with the picture.

9. A method, performed by one or more processors, comprising:

receiving an identification of a selected song, an associated picture, a gift recipient address and a personalized message;

overlaying, using the one or more processors, a copy of cover art stored in metadata of a digital music file of the selected song on the associated picture to form an overlaid associated picture;

deleting, using the one or more processors, the cover art stored in the metadata;

inserting, using the one or more processors, the overlaid associated picture into the metadata to form a personalized digital music file; and

delivering, using the one or more processors, the personalized digital music file to the gift recipient.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

receiving payment for each digital music file that is to be personalized.

11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

displaying, using the one or more processors, a user interface that enables selection of pictures from social media sites and networked storage devices.

12. The method of claim 9 where the digital music file is an MP3 file.

13. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

displaying, using the one or more processors, a user interface that enables entry of an intended recipient address and a personalized message.

14. The method of claim 9 further comprising

bundling, using the one or more processors, all personalized digital music files intended for a recipient and emailing a tokenized URL to the recipient for downloading bundled personalized digital music files.

15. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

displaying, using the one or more processors, a user interface for first selecting a song and then selecting a picture to associate with the song.

16. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

displaying, using the one or more processors, a user interface for first selecting a picture and then associating a song with the picture.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising encoded program code for execution by one or more computer processors, the program code when executed is executable to:

receive an identification of a selected song, an associated picture, a gift recipient address and a personalized message;

overlay a copy of cover art stored in metadata of a digital music file of the selected song on the associated picture to form an overlaid associated picture;

delete the cover art stored in the metadata;

insert the overlaid associated picture into the metadata to form a personalized digital music file; and

deliver the personalized digital music file to the gift recipient.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 further comprising encoded program code for execution by one or more computer processors, the program code when executed is further executable to:

display a user interface that enables entry of an intended recipient address and a personalized message.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 further comprising encoded program code for execution by one or more computer processors, the program code when executed is further executable to:

bundle all personalized digital music file intended for a recipient and email a tokenized URL to the recipient for downloading bundled personalized digital music files.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 further comprising encoded program code for execution by one or more computer processors, the program code when executed is further executable to:

display a user interface for first selecting a song and then selecting a picture to associate with the song.
