Abstract

Systems and methods of the present invention provide for displaying, suggesting and registering available domain names on a client computer based on selected geographical locations from online mapping service software or a geo-location software. Any combination of an online mapping software and a domain name registration software may receive a selection of one or more geographical locations within a displayed geographical area. Alternatively, a location of a client computer may be detected using the geo-location software. One or more available domain names may be parse for keywords related to the selected geographical area, and one or more available domain names may be suggested based on the selected keywords.

Claims

1. A method, comprising the steps of:

A) receiving, by at least one server computer communicatively coupled to a network, a geographic location data;

B) identifying, by the at least one server computer, at least one domain name relevant to the geographic location data; and

C) displaying, by the at least one server computer, a map comprising a geographic location identified from the geographic location data, wherein the at least one domain name is displayed on the map proximal to the geographic location.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the geographic location data comprises a geographic area selected by a user from a map displayed on a client computer, wherein the geographic area comprises a continent, country, region, state, county, area, city, or neighborhood, and is selected by:

i) clicking on the geographic area displayed on the map;

or

ii) entering a name of the geographic area into a user interface control displayed on the client computer.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying step B) further comprises the steps of:

i) identifying, by the server computer, within the geographic location data, a text string;

ii) searching, by the server computer, a database, communicatively coupled to a network and comprising the at least one domain name, to determine whether the at least one domain name comprises the text string; and

iii) responsive to a determination that the at least one domain name comprises the text string, identifying, by the at least one server computer, the at least one domain name as relevant to the geographic location data.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein displaying step C) further comprises the steps of:

i) identifying, by the server computer, within a database communicatively coupled to the network, a plurality of coordinates of the at least one geographic location data on the map;

ii) generating, by the server computer, a user interface control comprising the at least one domain name;

iii) overlaying, by the at least one server computer, the user interface control on the map at the at plurality of coordinates;

iv) receiving, by the at least one server computer, from the user interface control, a request to register the at least one domain name; and

v) registering, by the at least one server computer, the at least one domain name.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein:

i) receiving step A) further comprises receiving a subject matter keyword; and

ii) identifying step B) further comprises identifying the at least one domain name, wherein the at least one domain name is relevant to the geographic location data and the subject matter keyword.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying step B) further comprises the steps of:

i) identifying, by the at least one server computer, within the geographic location data, a text string;

ii) determining, by the at least one server computer, whether a database, communicatively coupled to a network and comprising a plurality of primary and secondary market domain names, comprises at least one primary market domain name that is an exact match for the text string;

iii) responsive to a determination that the database comprises a primary market domain name that is an exact match for the text string, adding, by the at least one server computer, the primary market domain name to the at least one domain name;

iv) determining, by the at least one server computer, whether the database comprises a secondary market domain name comprising the text string; and

v) responsive to a determination that the database comprises the secondary market domain name comprising the text string, adding, by the at least one server computer, the secondary market domain name to the at least one domain name.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein displaying step C) further comprises the steps of:

i) identifying, by the at least one server computer, within a database communicatively coupled to the network, a plurality of coordinates associated in the database with the geographic location data;

ii) generating, by the at least one server computer;

a) the map comprising the geographic location at the plurality of coordinates; and

b) a user interface control comprising the at least one domain name and displayed on the map at the plurality of coordinates; and

iii) transmitting, by the at least one server computer, the map to a client computer communicatively coupled to the network.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step, prior to receiving step A), of storing, in a database communicatively coupled to the network:

i) a plurality of available domain names in a primary market;

ii) a plurality of available domain names in a secondary market;

iii) a plurality of maps comprising the map;

iv) at least one geographic location associated in the database with the geographic location data; and

v) a plurality of coordinates associated in the database with the plurality of maps and the geographic location data.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein:

i) receiving step A) further comprises the step of transmitting the geographic location data to an API for a mapping software running on the at least one server computer;

ii) identifying step B) further comprises the step of identifying, by the mapping software, within a database communicatively coupled to the network, a plurality of coordinates associated with the geographic location; and

iii) displaying step C) further comprises the steps of generating, by the mapping software;

a) a map comprising the geographic location; and

b) a user interface control comprising the at least one domain name and overlayed on the map at the plurality of coordinates.

10. A system, comprising a server computer communicatively coupled to a network and running at least one software module configured to:

A) receive a geographic location data;

B) identify at least one domain name relevant to the geographic location data; and

C) display a map comprising a geographic location identified from the geographic location data, wherein the at least one domain name is displayed on the map proximal to the geographic location.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the geographic location data comprises a geographic area selected by a user from a map displayed on a client computer, wherein the geographic area comprises a continent, country, region, state, county, area, city, or neighborhood, and is selected by:

i) clicking on the geographic area displayed on the map;

or

ii) entering a name of the geographic area into a user interface control displayed on the client computer.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to:

i) identify, within the geographic location data, a text string;

ii) search a database, communicatively coupled to a network and comprising the at least one domain name, to determine whether the at least one domain name comprises the text string; and

iii) responsive to a determination that the at least one domain name comprises the text string, identify the at least one domain name as relevant to the geographic location data.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to:

i) identify, within a database communicatively coupled to the network, a plurality of coordinates of the at least one geographic location data on the map;

ii) generate a user interface control comprising the at least one domain name;

iii) overlay the user interface control on the map at the at plurality of coordinates;

iv) receive, from the user interface control, a request to register the at least one domain name; and

v) register the at least one domain name.

14. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to:

i) receive a subject matter keyword; and

ii) identify the at least one domain name, wherein the at least one domain name is relevant to the geographic location data and the subject matter keyword.

15. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to:

i) identify, within the geographic location data, a text string;

ii) determine whether a database, communicatively coupled to a network and comprising a plurality of primary and secondary market domain names, comprises at least one primary market domain name that is an exact match for the text string;

iii) responsive to a determination that the database comprises a primary market domain name that is an exact match for the text string, add the primary market domain name to the at least one domain name;

iv) determine whether the database comprises a secondary market domain name comprising the text string; and

v) responsive to a determination that the database comprises the secondary market domain name comprising the text string, add the secondary market domain name to the at least one domain name.

16. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to:

i) identify, within a database communicatively coupled to the network, a plurality of coordinates associated in the database with the geographic location data;

ii) generate;

a) the map comprising the geographic location at the plurality of coordinates; and

b) a user interface control comprising the at least one domain name and displayed on the map at the plurality of coordinates; and

iii) transmit the map to a client computer communicatively coupled to the network.

17. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to store, in a database communicatively coupled to the network:

i) a plurality of available domain names in a primary market;

ii) a plurality of available domain names in a secondary market;

iii) a plurality of maps comprising the map;

iv) at least one geographic location associated in the database with the geographic location data; and

v) a plurality of coordinates associated in the database with the plurality of maps and the geographic location data.

18. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one server computer is further configured to:

i) transmit the geographic location data to an API for a mapping software running on the at least one server computer;

ii) identify, within a database communicatively coupled to the network, a plurality of coordinates associated with the geographic location; and

iii) generate;

a) a map comprising the geographic location; and

b) a user interface control comprising the at least one domain name and overlayed on the map at the plurality of coordinates.
