Abstract

Disclosed are methods, apparatus, systems, and computer readable storage media for managing objectives in an organization in a social network environment. A server may receive objective data and task data associated with the objective. A message associated with the objective may be published on a social network feed.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for managing objectives in an organization, the method comprising:

receiving, at a server, objective data indicating an objective of a first user;

receiving, at the server, task data indicating one or more tasks associated with the objective;

storing the objective data and task data on one or more storage mediums; and

publishing a first message including the objective on a social network feed capable of being displayed on a display device.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, at the server, a visibility indicator associated with the objective, the visibility indicator indicating a degree of visibility of the objective in the organization.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the degree of visibility indicates the objective is private.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the degree of visibility indicates the objective is visible to a level of hierarchy in the organization.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the level of hierarchy in the organization is a first level, the user being at a second level of the hierarchy, the first level being lower in the hierarchy than the second level.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the level of hierarchy in the organization is a first level, the user being at a second level of the hierarchy, the first level being higher in the hierarchy than the second level.

7. The method of claim 2, wherein the degree of visibility indicates the objective is visible to all users in the organization.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, at the server, information identifying one or more users in the organization; and

transmitting, to the one or more users, an invitation to participate in the objective.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

determining that the one or more users has accepted the invitation to participate in the objective; and

publishing a second message including an indication that the one or more users has accepted the invitation on the social network feed.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the indication includes the objective.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining at least one task associated with the objective is indicated as completed; and

publishing a second message including the at least one task and the objective on the social network feed.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

determining the at least one task is completed by a second user; and

transmitting a feedback request to the first user.

13. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying, at the server, one or more users in the organization, the one or more users at a first level of hierarchy in the organization, the first user at a second level of hierarchy in the organization, the first level being at a lower level of the hierarchy than the second level; and

transmitting, to the one or more users, an invitation to participate in the objective.

14. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying, at the server, one or more users in the organization, the one or more users at a first level of hierarchy in the organization, the first user at a second level of hierarchy in the organization, the first level being at a higher level of the hierarchy than the second level; and

transmitting, to the one or more users, an invitation to participate in the objective.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein the first message is published on a start date associated with the objective.

16. The method of claim 1, wherein the objective is associated with an avatar, the avatar being associated with the publication of the first message.

17. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining a progress of the objective has reached a threshold; and

publishing a second message indicating the objective has reached the threshold.

18. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining the objective has reached a threshold of contributors; and

publishing a second message indicating the objective has reached the threshold of contributors.

19. One or more computing devices for managing objectives in an organization, the one or more computing devices comprising:

one or more processors operable to execute one or more instructions to;

receive objective data indicating an objective of a first user;

receive task data indicating one or more tasks associated with the objective;

store the objective data and task data on one or more storage mediums; and

publish a first message including the objective on a social network feed capable of being displayed on a display device.

20. A computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, the instructions executable by a processor to:

receive objective data indicating an objective of a first user;

receive task data indicating one or more tasks associated with the objective;

store the objective data and task data on one or more storage mediums; and

publish a first message including the objective on a social network feed capable of being displayed on a display device.
