Abstract

System and method of a manipulative handle for revealing detail information in an interactive mobile user interface are disclosed. In one embodiment, when an activity supported by a cloud-based (e.g., online cloud-based collaboration platform) is initiated, the status of the activity is tracked and displayed using an animated user interface element. On and/or near the animated user interface element are hidden grab points that can be engaged to expand the user interface element to reveal detail relating to the activity. If the user interface element is already in an expanded state, detecting activation of hidden grab points on and/or near the user interface element causes minimization of the user interface element, thereby concealing the detail revealed earlier.

Claims

1. A method of an interactive user interface for accessing a cloud-based platform via a mobile device, comprising:

displaying a first information concerning a cloud-based platform supported activity on a user interface element of an application on the mobile device;

detecting engagement of the user interface element or an area proximate to the user interface element;

in response to the detecting, expanding the user interface element to display second information concerning the cloud-based platform supported activity;

wherein, the cloud-based platform supported activity facilitates collaboration among multiple users via the cloud-based platform.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein, the user interface element includes a manipulative handle.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein, the cloud-based platform provides a collaboration or file sharing service.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the engagement includes engagement of multiple contact points on the manipulative handle or the area proximate to the manipulative handle.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the engagement includes tapping or sliding of one or more of the multiple contact points via touch screen action on a screen of the mobile device.

6. The method of claim 2, wherein the cloud-based platform supported activity is an upload or download of a work item from a host server of the cloud-based platform and the first information is a status information concerning the status of the upload or download.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the second information includes additional detail relating to the status information concerning the status of the upload or download.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the additional detail includes one or more options to make modifications to the upload or download of the work item or initiate a collaboration or file sharing activity.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the status information is identified based on user-specific usage data.

10. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

detecting engagement of the expanded user interface element or an area proximate to the expanded user interface element; and

in response to the detecting, minimizing the expanded user interface element such that the second information is not displayed.

11. The method of claim 3, wherein the cloud-based platform supported activity includes collaboration activity with other users in the cloud-based platform.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein, the cloud-based platform supported activity includes at least one of:

uploading, downloading, syncing, transferring, buffering, copying, deleting, emailing, generating a preview, or commenting on a work item.

13. A mobile device having an interactive mobile user interface for accessing a cloud-based service to interact with a work item, comprising:

a processor

a memory unit having instructions stored thereon which when executed by the processor, causes the processor to generate the interactive mobile user interface having;

a user interface element having a manipulative handle configured to;

display status information concerning a work item being transferred to or from the cloud-based service;

expand in response to detecting engagement of the manipulative handle to display additional information relating to transfer status information of the work item to or from the cloud-based service.

14. The mobile device of claim 13, wherein, the cloud-based service includes a cloud-based collaboration service;

wherein, the work item is transferrable to or from the cloud-based service via the mobile device for collaboration on the work item with other users of the cloud-based service.

15. The mobile device of claim 13, wherein the manipulative handle includes multiple contact points responsive to user engagement.

16. The mobile device of claim 15, wherein the user engagement includes tapping or sliding of one or more of the multiple contact points via touch screen action on a screen of the mobile device.

17. The mobile device of claim 13, wherein the additional information includes one or more options to modify the transfer of the work item.

18. The mobile device of claim 13, wherein the additional information is determined based on historical usage data.

19. The mobile device of claim 13, wherein the transfer status information is provided by a host server associated with the cloud-based service and at least some of the additional information is obtained locally from the mobile device.

20. The mobile device of claim 13, wherein the user interface element is further configured to:

decrease in size in response to detecting a subsequent engagement of the manipulative handle such that the additional information is not displayed by the user interface element.

21. A system for generating an interactive user interface on a mobile display region for providing information related to processing information of a work item of a cloud-based environment, comprising:

means for displaying status information relating to batch processing of work items;

means for providing a manipulative handle for user interaction;

means for detecting user interaction with the manipulative handle;

means for displaying further information relating to the batch processing of the work items in response to the detecting.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the batch processing includes performing a function, including one or more of batch upload, batch download function, to or from a cloud-based collaboration service.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein, the batch processing of the work items is related to collaboration activities with other users of the cloud-based environment such that other users of the cloud-based environment are able to perform collaborative functions on the uploaded or downloaded work items.

24. The system of claim 21, wherein the manipulative handle includes multiple contact points for the user interaction.

25. The system of claim 24, wherein the user interaction includes tapping or sliding of one or more of the multiple contact points via touch screen action.

26. The system of claim 21, wherein the further information includes an option to cancel processing of one or more of the work items or cancel the batch processing.

27. The system of claim 21, further comprising:

means for detecting a subsequent user interaction with the manipulative handle;

means for concealing the further information relating to the batch processing of the work items in response to the detecting.

28. The system of claim 21, further comprising:

means for obtaining the status information and at least some of the further information.
