Abstract

A method for automating physiologic alerts and derived parameters with trending heuristics includes receiving at a mobile patient monitor interface, a first input expression indicative of a first parameter source for first patient parameters from a first medical device from a user. The method further includes receiving, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a second input expression indicative of a second parameter source for second patient parameters from a second medical device from a user. The method further includes applying, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a smoothing operator to the first input expression and the second input expression. The method further includes evaluating, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a complex expression of the first patient parameters and the second patient parameters based on the smoothing operator to initiate display of at least one parameter, derived parameter, trend, or alert on a remote device.

Claims

1. A method for automating physiologic alerts and derived parameters with trending heuristics, comprising:

receiving, at a mobile patient monitor interface, a first input expression indicative of a first parameter source for a first plurality of patient parameters from a first medical device from a user;

receiving, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a second input expression indicative of a second parameter source for a second plurality of patient parameters from a second medical device from a user;

applying, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a smoothing operator to the first input expression and the second input expression; and

evaluating, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a complex expression of the first plurality of patient parameters and the second plurality of patient parameters based on the smoothing operator to initiate display of at least one alert or derived parameter on a remote device.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising applying a time basis of the smoothing operator and a percentage change over time.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising applying a time differential for comparing a prior condition and a current condition.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the smoothing operator comprises a median operation.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an averaging operation.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an operation to identify the smallest value from the numbers provided.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an operation to identify the largest value from the numbers provided or a count of the numbers provided.

8. A system for automating physiologic alerts and derived parameters with trending heuristics, comprising:

one or more processing units operable to;

receive at a mobile patient monitor interface, a first input expression indicative of a first parameter source for a first plurality of patient parameters from a first medical device from a user;

receive at the mobile patient monitor interface, a second input expression indicative of a second parameter source for a second plurality of patient parameters from a second medical device from a user;

apply, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a smoothing operator to the first input expression and the second input expression; and

evaluate at the mobile patient monitor interface, a complex expression of the first plurality of patient parameters and the second plurality of patient parameters based on the smoothing operator to initiate display of at least one alert or derived parameter on a remote device.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the one or more processing units are operable to apply a time basis of the smoothing operator and a percentage change over time.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the one or more processing units are operable to apply a time differential for comparing a prior condition and a current condition.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the smoothing operator comprises a median operation.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an averaging operation.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an operation to identify the smallest value from the numbers provided.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an operation to identify the largest value from the numbers provided or a count of the numbers provided.

15. Software for automating physiologic alerts and derived parameters with trending heuristics, the software embodied in a computer-readable medium and when executed operable to:

receive at a mobile patient monitor interface, a first input expression indicative of a first parameter source for a first plurality of patient parameters from a first medical device from a user;

receive at the mobile patient monitor interface, a second input expression indicative of a second parameter source for a second plurality of patient parameters from a second medical device from a user;

apply, at the mobile patient monitor interface, a smoothing operator to the first input expression and the second input expression; and

evaluate at the mobile patient monitor interface, a complex expression of the first plurality of patient parameters and the second plurality of patient parameters based on the smoothing operator to initiate display of at least one alert or derived parameter on a remote device.

16. The software of claim 15, wherein the one or more processing units are operable to apply a time basis of the smoothing operator and a percentage change over time.

17. The software of claim 15, wherein the one or more processing units are operable to apply a time differential for comparing a prior condition and a current condition.

18. The software of claim 15, wherein the smoothing operator comprises a median operation.

19. The software of claim 15, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an averaging operation.

20. The software of claim 15, wherein the smoothing operator comprises an operation to identify the smallest value from the numbers provided or a count of the numbers provided.
