Abstract

Communications between a mobile phone and a vehicle based computer in a vehicle is disclosed. Contact information and a text message, received over a cellular network, may be provided by the mobile phone to the vehicle based computer. The text message may be subsequently displayed on a display in the vehicle.

Claims

1. A mobile phone comprising:

circuitry configured to store contact information, wherein the contact information includes a phone number and a home address;

circuitry configured to receive, by the mobile phone from a vehicle based computer in a vehicle, a poll or circuitry configured to send, by the mobile phone, a different poll to the vehicle based computer;

circuitry configured to receive, via a cellular network, a text message;

circuitry configured to provide, by the mobile phone to the vehicle based computer using Bluetooth, the text message and the contact information;

wherein a link between the mobile phone and the vehicle based computer is arranged in relation to the poll or the different poll;

wherein the mobile phone is in a physical proximity to the vehicle; and

wherein the text message is subsequently displayed on a display electrically coupled to the vehicle based computer.

2. The mobile phone of claim 1 further comprising:

circuitry configured to control, remotely by the mobile phone via the cellular network, locks, lights, or a horn of the vehicle.

3. The mobile phone of claim 1 further comprising:

the circuitry further configured to receive, from the vehicle based computer, a request for a call; and

circuitry configured to place the call over the cellular network.

4. A method performed by a mobile phone, the method comprising:

storing, by the mobile phone, contact information, wherein the contact information includes a phone number and a home address;

receiving, by the mobile phone from a vehicle based computer in a vehicle, a poll or sending, by the mobile phone, another poll to the vehicle based computer;

receiving, by the mobile phone via a cellular network, a text message;

providing, by the mobile phone to the vehicle based computer using Bluetooth, the text message and the contact information;

wherein a link between the mobile phone and the vehicle based computer is arranged in relation to the poll or the another poll;

wherein the mobile phone is in a physical proximity to the vehicle; and

wherein the text message is subsequently displayed on a display electrically coupled to the vehicle based computer.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising:

controlling, remotely by the mobile phone via the cellular network, locks, lights, or a horn of the vehicle.

6. The method of claim 4 further comprising:

receiving, by the mobile phone from the vehicle based computer, a request for a call; and

placing, by the mobile phone over the cellular network, the call.

7. A vehicle based computer configured in a vehicle, the vehicle based computer comprising:

circuitry configured to receive, from a mobile phone using Bluetooth, a text message and contact information, wherein the contact information includes a phone number and a home address;

circuitry configured to display the text message; and

wherein the vehicle based computer is electrically coupled to a navigation system of the vehicle.

8. The vehicle based computer of claim 7 wherein the home address is used by the navigation system.

9. The vehicle based computer of claim 7 further comprising:

the circuitry further configured to receive, from the mobile phone via a cellular network, information to remotely control locks, lights, or a horn of the vehicle.

10. The vehicle based computer of claim 7 further comprising:

circuitry configured to send a request, to the mobile phone, to place a call for the vehicle based computer.

11. A method performed by a vehicle based computer configured in a vehicle, the method comprising:

receiving, from a mobile phone using Bluetooth, a text message and contact information, wherein the contact information includes a phone number and a home address;

displaying, by the vehicle based computer, the text message; and

wherein the vehicle based computer is electrically coupled to a navigation system of the vehicle.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the home address is used by the navigation system.

13. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

receiving, by the vehicle based computer from the mobile phone via a cellular network, information to remotely control locks, lights, or a horn of the vehicle.

14. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

sending, to the mobile phone, a request to place a call for the vehicle based computer.
