Abstract

An apparatus of processing a digital service signals and a method thereof are disclosed. The present invention includes a receiving module configured to receive declarative contents and a first PDI (Profiles, Demographics, Interests) table including a first PDI question having a first question id for identifying the first PDI question and receive a second PDI table including a second PDI question having a second question id for identifying the second PDI question, an obtaining module configured to obtain an answer to the first PDI question, a storing module configured to store the obtained answer to the first PDI table, a fetching module configured to fetch the stored answer to the second PDI question by using the first question id and the second question id, wherein the first question id is equal to the second question id, wherein the storing module further stores the fetched answer to the second PDI table and a downloading module configured to download contents using the fetched answer, wherein the declarative contents fetches the stored answer by using an API (Application Programming Interface).

Claims

1. A method of receiving a digital service signal, the method comprising:

receiving declarative contents and a first PDI (Profiles, Demographics, Interests) table including a first PDI question having a first question id for identifying the first PDI question;

obtaining an answer to the first PDI question;

storing the obtained answer to the first PDI table;

receiving a second PDI table including a second PDI question having a second question id for identifying the second PDI question;

fetching the stored answer to the second PDI question by using the first question id and the second question id, wherein the first question id is equal to the second question id;

storing the fetched answer to the second PDI table; and

downloading contents using the fetched answer,

wherein the declarative contents fetches the stored answer by using an API (Application Programming Interface).

2. The method of claim 1, the first and the second PDI question is a registered question or a non-registered question.

3. The method of claim 2, the registered question includes registration records having a date of a registration, a name of an organization submitting the question for the registration, contact information for the organization.

4. The method of claim 1, the method further includes:

receiving a SMT (Service Map Table) or a NRT-IT (Non-Real-Time Information Table) including a targeting descriptor; and

obtaining the targeting descriptor to extract the PDI questions.

5. The method of claim 1, when the first PDI table or the second PDI table is delivered via the broadcast stream, the method further includes:

receiving a table section including sequence number information to distinguish the first PDI table or the second PDI table; and

receiving the first PDI table or the second PDI table using the sequence number information of the table section.

6. The method of claim 1, the first PDI table or the second PDI table is carried via an IP subnet.

7. An apparatus for receiving a digital service signal, comprising:

a receiving module configured to receive declarative contents and a first PDI (Profiles, Demographics, Interests) table including a first PDI question having a first question id for identifying the first PDI question and receive a second PDI table including a second PDI question having a second question id for identifying the second PDI question;

an obtaining module configured to obtain an answer to the first PDI question;

a storing module configured to store the obtained answer to the first PDI table;

a fetching module configured to fetch the stored answer to the second PDI question by using the first question id and the second question id, wherein the first question id is equal to the second question id, wherein the storing module further stores the fetched answer to the second PDI table; and

a downloading module configured to download contents using the fetched answer, wherein the declarative contents fetches the stored answer by using an API (Application Programming Interface).

8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first and the second PDI question is a registered question or a non-registered question.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, the registered question includes registration records having a date of a registration, a name of an organization submitting the question for the registration, contact information for the organization.

10. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the receiving module further receives a SMT (Service Map Table) or a NRT-IT (Non-Real-Time Information Table) including a targeting descriptor, wherein the obtaining module further obtains the targeting descriptor to extract the PDI questions.

11. The apparatus of claim 7, when the first PDI table or the second PDI table is delivered via the broadcast stream, the receiving module further:

receives a table section including sequence number information to distinguish the first PDI table or the second PDI table; and

receives the first PDI table or the second PDI table using the sequence number information of the table section.

12. The apparatus of claim 7, the first PDI table or the second PDI table is carried via an IP subnet.

13. The method of processing a digital service signal, the method comprising:

transmitting declarative contents and a first PDI (Profiles, Demographics, Interests) table including a first PDI question having a first question id for identifying the first PDI question; and

transmitting a second PDI table including a second PDI question having a second question id for identifying the second PDI question.

14. The method of claim 13, the method further includes registering the first question or the second question.

15. The method of claim 13, the method further includes transmitting a SMT (Service Map Table) or a NRT-IT (Non-Real-Time Information Table) including a targeting descriptor, wherein the PDI questions are extracted from the targeting descriptor.

16. The method of claim 13, when the first PDI table or the second PDI table is delivered via the broadcast stream, the method further includes transmitting a table section including sequence number information to distinguish the first PDI table or the second PDI table, wherein the first PDI table or the second PDI table is received by using the sequence number information of the table section.

An apparatus for processing a digital service signal includes a transmitting module configured to transmit declarative contents, a first PDI (Profiles, Demographics, Interests) table including a first PDI question having a first question id for identifying the first PDI question and a second PDI table including a second PDI question having a second question id for identifying the second PDI question.

18. The apparatus of claim 17 further includes a registering module configured to register the first question or the second question.

19. The apparatus of claim 17, the transmitting module further transmits a SMT (Service Map Table) or a NRT-IT (Non-Real-Time Information Table) including a targeting descriptor, wherein the PDI questions are extracted from the targeting descriptor.

20. The apparatus of claim 17, when the first PDI table or the second PDI table is delivered via the broadcast stream, the transmitting module further transmits a table section including sequence number information to distinguish the first PDI table or the second PDI table, wherein the first PDI table or the second PDI table is received by using the sequence number information of the table section.
