Abstract

The system and methods of the present application comprise one or more computers for substantially removing the element of chance in a contest that would normally be on whose outcome would be determined by a mixture of chance and skill. The system comprises one or more computers that interact with a user in order to reduce or eliminate the elements of chance, thereby forcing the contest to obey the law of averages within a finite number of iterations of the contest, thereby reducing variance and increasing the success of skillful players.

Claims

2. A computer system for reducing chance in a mixed contest of luck and skill between two or more players, comprising:

a processor;

a memory;

software stored on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium which, when loaded into the memory and run by the processor, causes the processor to perform steps of;

providing the players with elements to play one or more first rounds in the contest;

determining a relative strength of the elements provided to each player in each of the one or more first rounds;

maintaining a record of the percentage chance of each player to win the one or more first rounds in the memory based on the elements provided to each player;

creating second elements to play one or more second rounds in the contest, such that the percentage chance of each player to win the one or more first rounds and the one or more second rounds are substantially the same; and

providing the players with the elements to play a second round.

3. The computer system of claim 2, wherein the software stored on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium, when loaded and run by the processor, causes the processor to perform additional steps of accounting for position of each player when determining the percentage chance to win.

4. The computer system of claim 2, wherein the software stored on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium, when loaded and run by the processor, causes the processor to perform additional steps of equalizing the chances of winning at each point in the play of a round for each player.

The computer system of claim 2, wherein the software stored on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium, when loaded and run by the processor, causes the processor to perform additional steps of disguising a similarity between the second elements and the elements provided in the one or more first rounds.

6. The computer system of claim 5, wherein the disguising comprises changing the order of presentation of the second elements.

7. The computer system of claim 5, wherein the disguising comprises changing the appearance of the second elements.

8. The computer system of claim 2, wherein the software stored on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium, when loaded and run by the processor, causes the processor to perform additional steps of providing more than one second round.

9. A method for players to participate in a contest at a computerized gaming table interface, the method comprising:

a computer providing randomly selected elements to each player participating in the contest at the computerized gaming table interface, to enable the player to play one or more first rounds in the contest;

the computer determining a relative strength of elements provided to each player;

the computer maintaining a record of the percentage chance of each player to win the one or more first rounds based on the elements provided;

the computer creating second elements to play one or more second rounds in the contest, such that the percentage chance of each player to win the one or more first rounds and the one or more second rounds are substantially the same; and

the computer providing the players with the elements to play the second round.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein determining relative strength of elements provided to each player further comprises accounting for position of each player.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein creating the second elements further comprises equalizing the chances of winning at every point during the play of a round.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein creating the ordered arrangement further comprises disguising a similarity between the second elements and the elements provided in the one or more first rounds.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the disguising comprises changing the order of presentation of the second elements.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the disguising comprises changing the appearance of the second elements.

15. The method of claim 9, further comprises the computer providing more than one second round.

16. A computer system for reducing chance in a mixed contest of luck and skill between two or more players, comprising:

a processor;

a memory;

software stored on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium which, when loaded into the memory and run by the processor, causes the processor to perform steps of;

providing the players with first elements to play one or more first rounds in the contest;

maintaining a record of the percentage chance of each player to win the one or more first rounds in the memory based on the first elements;

creating second elements to play one or more second rounds in the contest; and

providing the players with the elements to play a second round;

wherein the average percentage chance of each player to win the one or more first rounds and the one or more second rounds are substantially the same.
