1. A method for fulfilling orders at an inventory pier, comprising:
- receiving, by a management module, a plurality of orders, a first order comprising a request for one or more inventory items;
examining, by the management module, the plurality of orders to identify an inventory item, the inventory item stored by an inventory holder stationed at an inventory pier;
grouping, by the management module, the first order with a second order of the plurality of orders based at least in part upon determining that the first order and the second order include requests for the inventory item;
arranging a first container associated with the first order and a second container associated with the second order on an order holder at an induction station, wherein the first container and the second container are operable to receive the inventory item; and
instructing, by the management module, a mobile drive unit to transport the order holder from the induction station to the inventory pier, wherein the order holder receives the inventory item from the inventory pier at a location opposite to the inventory holder.

Abstract
A method for fulfilling orders at an inventory pier includes receiving orders. The orders are examined to identify an inventory item stored by an inventory holder stationed at an inventory pier. A first order is grouped with a second order based at least in part upon determining that the first order and the second order include requests for the inventory item. A first container associated with the first order and a second container associated with the second order are arranged on an order holder at an induction station. The first container and the second container are operable to receive the inventory item. The mobile drive unit is instructed to transport the order holder from the induction station to the inventory pier. The order holder receives the inventory item from the inventory pier at a location opposite to the inventory holder.

a memory operable to store information associated with a plurality of orders for a plurality of inventory items; a processor communicatively coupled to the memory and operable to; obtain the information associated with the plurality of orders; select two or more of the plurality of orders to fulfill utilizing an order holder; and instruct a mobile drive unit to transport the order holder to an inventory pier, wherein the two or more orders receive inventory items requested by the two or more orders as the order holder moves along the inventory pier. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13)

14. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising logic, the logic, when executed by a processor, operable to:
