Abstract

An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device includes a display, one or more processors, memory, and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors. The one or more programs include instructions for detecting a first input; and determining whether a change to the first input is detected within a first time period after detecting the first input. In accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, first media content is added to a playlist. In accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is not detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, the first media content is caused to be presented.

Claims

1. An electronic device, comprising:

a display;

one or more processors;

memory; and

one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for

detecting a first input;

determining whether a change to the first input is detected within a first time period after detecting the first input;

in accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, adding first media content to a playlist; and

in accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is not detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, causing the first media content to be presented.

2. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the first input is detected during presentation of second media content.

3. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the playlist includes the second media content.

4. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the instructions for causing the first media content to be presented include instructions for:

reducing a volume of the second media content while the first media content is presented;

determining whether a change to the first input is detected after the first time period; and

in accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is detected after the first time period, ceasing presentation of the first media content.

5. The electronic device of claim 4, wherein reducing the volume of the second media content includes muting the second media content.

6. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the instructions for causing the first media content to be presented include instructions for:

pausing the presentation of the second media content while the first media content is presented;

determining whether a change to the first input is detected after the first time period; and

in accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is detected after the first time period, ceasing presentation of the first media content.

7. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the first input is a touch input including a contact with a touch-sensitive surface.

8. The electronic device of claim 7, wherein the change to the first input is a liftoff from the touch-sensitive surface.

9. The electronic device of claim 7, wherein the change to the first input includes an additional contact with the touch-sensitive surface, wherein the contact and the additional contact correspond to distinct contact areas of the touch-sensitive surface.

10. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the first input is a click-down event.

11. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the change to the first input is a click-release event.

12. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein adding the first media content to the playlist includes adding the first media content to an end of the playlist.

13. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein adding the first media content to the playlist includes adding the first media content as next media content in the playlist.

14. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein adding the first media content to the playlist includes replacing existing content in the playlist with the first media content.

15. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the first media content comprises a plurality of media content items, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

detecting a direction of the first input;

determining whether the direction of the first input is a first direction or a second direction; and

in accordance with a determination that the direction of the first input is the first direction, causing a next media content item of the plurality of media content items to be presented.

16. The electronic device of claim 15, the one or more programs further including instructions for, in accordance with a determination that the direction of the first input is the second direction, causing a previous media content item of the plurality of media content items to be presented.

17. The electronic device of claim 16, wherein the first direction corresponds to an input movement having a predetermined directional component in a right-hand direction.

18. The electronic device of claim 17, wherein the second direction corresponds to an input movement having a predetermined directional component in a left-hand direction.

19. A method for previewing media content, performed at an electronic device having one or more processors and memory storing instructions for execution by the one or more processors, the method comprising:

detecting a first input;

determining whether a change to the first input is detected within a first time period after detecting the first input;

in accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is detected within the first time period after detecting the first input adding first media content to a playlist; and

in accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is not detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, causing the first media content to be presented.
