Abstract

A heart monitor is provided herein. The heart monitor includes a housing and first and second electrodes disposed in a first surface of the housing At least a third electrode is disposed on a second surface of the housing. The first and second electrodes are held by a user with his left and right hand respectively, while the third electrode contacts the user'"'"'s torso or left leg. A processor records lead measurements corresponding to voltage differences between the first, second and third electrodes.

Claims

1. A heart monitor comprising:

a housing;

first and second electrodes disposed on a first surface of the housing, the first and second electrodes to be in contact with a user'"'"'s hand;

at least a third electrode disposed on a second surface of the housing, the third electrode to be held by a user against the user'"'"'s body while the user contacts the first and second electrodes with the user'"'"'s hand; and

a processor to record lead measurements corresponding to voltage differences between the first, second and at least third electrodes.

2. The heart monitor of claim 1, wherein the heart monitor comprises a fourth electrode.

3. The heart monitor of claim 1, wherein the fourth electrode is disposed on a surface of the housing with the third electrode.

4. The heart monitor of claim 1, wherein the fourth electrode is to be in contact with a user'"'"'s torso while the user contacts the first and second electrodes with the user'"'"'s hand.

5. The heart monitor of claim 1, wherein the heart monitor measures twelve ECG leads.

6. The heart monitor of claim 5, wherein the heart monitor measures the twelve ECG leads in four steps.

7. The heart monitor of claim 1, wherein the heart monitor measures at least two ECG leads simultaneously in each measurement step.

8. The heart monitor of claim 1, wherein the heart monitor measures ECG lead L1, L2, L3, aVR, aVL, aVF, MCL1, MCL2, MCL3, MCL4, MCL5, and MCL6.

9. A portable phone comprising:

a hand-held heart monitor integrated with the portable phone, the hand-held heart monitor comprising at least three electrodes, wherein the electrodes are disposed on at least one surface of the portable phone.

10. The portable phone of claim 9, wherein two electrodes are disposed on a first surface of the portable phone and two electrodes are disposed on a second surface of the portable phone.

11. The portable phone of claim 9, wherein the heart monitor measures 12 ECG leads.

12. The portable phone of claim 11, wherein the heart monitor measures 12 ECG leads in four steps.

13. The portable phone of claim 9, wherein the heart monitor measures at least two ECG leads simultaneously in each step.

14. The portable phone of claim 9, wherein the heart monitor measures ECG leads L1, L2, L3, aVR, aVL, aVF, MCL1, MCL2, MCL3, MCL4, MCL5, and MCL6.

15. The portable phone of claim 9, wherein the portable phone further comprises an application to operate the heart monitor.

16. The portable phone of claim wherein the portable phone comprises a cellular phone.

17. The portable phone of claim wherein the portable phone comprises a smartphone.

18. A method of measuring ECG leads comprising:

measuring 12 ECG leads in four steps with a hand-held heart monitor.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein measuring ECG leads comprises:

placing a hand-held heart monitor against a torso or left leg in a first position;

placing a hand-held heart monitor against a torso in a second position;

placing a hand-held heart monitor against a torso in a third position;

placing a hand-held heart monitor against a torso in a fourth position; and

recording. ECG data at each position.

20. The method of claim 19, further comprising holding a hand-held heart monitor in each position for at least two seconds.

21. The method of claim 19, further comprising pressing a button or sending a command after each measurement position to indicate advancement to a next position.

22. The method of claim 19, wherein the hand-held heart monitor comprises a housing and at least four electrodes disposed on at least one surface of the housing.

23. The method of claim 19, herein positioning a hand-held heart monitor in a first position comprises:

placing at least one finger of a first hand against a first upper electrode;

placing at least one finger of a second hand against a second upper electrode; and

positioning a first and second lower electrode against a torso or left leg so that a first lower electrode electrically contacts a left leg (LL) electrode position.

24. The method of claim 19 wherein positioning a hand-held heart monitor in a second position comprises:

placing at least one finger of a first hand against a first upper electrode;

placing at least one finger of a second hand against a second upper electrode; and

positioning a first and second lower electrode against a torso so that a first lower electrode electrically contacts a V2 chest electrode position and a second lower electrode electrically contacts a V1 chest electrode position.

25. The method of claim 19, wherein positioning a hand-held heart monitor in a third position comprises:

placing at least one finger of a first hand against a first upper electrode;

placing at least one finger of a second hand against a second upper electrode; and

positioning a first and second lower electrode against a torso so that a first lower electrode electrically contacts a V4 chest electrode position and a second lower electrode electrically contacts a V3 chest electrode position.

26. The method of claim 19, wherein positioning a hand-held heart monitor in a fourth position comprises:

placing at least one finger of a first hand against a first upper electrode,

placing at least one finger of a second hand against a second upper electrode; and

positioning a first and second lower electrode against a torso so that a first lower electrode electrically contacts a V6 chest electrode position and a second lower electrode electrically contacts a V5 chest electrode position.

27. A method of measuring ECG leads comprising:

placing a hand-held heart monitor against a torso or left leg;

measuring ECG leads L1, L2, L3, aVR, aVL, and aVF simultaneously;

measuring ECG leads MCL1 and MCL2 simultaneously;

measuring ECG leads MCL3 and MCL4 simultaneously; and

measuring ECG leads MCL5 and MCL6 simultaneously.

28. The method of claim 27, further comprising measuring at least two ECG leads simultaneously via at least two amplifier channels.
