Abstract

Techniques are described for providing a meeting notification and automatic modification service. A system may be configured to identify an appointment in a calendar application, identify a geographic location of the appointment, and identify, before the appointment time, a geographic location of a first participant of the appointment. Based on the geographic information, the system may identify a route extending from the geographic location of the first participant to the geographic location of the appointment, and may identify a travel time associated with the route. Based on the travel time and the appointment time, the system may determine whether the first participant is estimated to arrive at the appointment on time and, based on the determination, the system may send a message to participants of the appointment or dynamically reschedule the appointment.

18. A method comprising:

identifying, using at least one processor, a first geographic location associated with a user of a calendar application;

identifying a second geographic location and a start time associated with an appointment in the calendar application;

identifying a travel time associated with a route extending from the first geographic location to the second geographic location; and

incorporating the travel time into a calendar event in the calendar application.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising enabling presentation of the calendar event within a calendar interface.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the calendar event is separate from a calendar event associated with the appointment.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the calendar event is presented within the calendar interface before a calendar event associated with the appointment.

22. The method of claim 19, wherein a size of the calendar event, as presented within the calendar interface, corresponds to the travel time.

23. The method of claim 19, further comprising enabling presentation of a description of the calendar event.

24. The method of claim 18, further comprising providing, by way of the calendar event, directions for traveling from the first geographic location to the second geographic location.

25. The method of claim 18, wherein identifying the first geographic location comprises detecting a location of a mobile device associated with the user.

26. The method of claim 18, further comprising providing, by way of a graphical user interface, a selectable option for requesting a reservation of a time block for travel time.

27. The method of claim 26, further comprising creating the calendar event based on a selection of the selectable option by the user.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein the selectable option comprises a check box.

29. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

detecting a change associated with the appointment; and

in response to the change associated with the appointment, modifying or canceling the calendar event.

30. A system comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to;

identify a first geographic location associated with a user of a calendar application;

identify a second geographic location and a start time associated with an appointment in the calendar application;

identify a travel time associated with a route extending from the first geographic location to the second geographic location; and

incorporate the travel time into a calendar event in the calendar application.

31. The system of claim 30, further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to enable presentation of the calendar event within a calendar interface.

32. The system of claim 31, wherein the calendar event is separate from a calendar event associated with the appointment.

33. The system of claim 31, wherein the calendar event is presented within the calendar interface before a calendar event associated with the appointment.

34. The system of claim 30, wherein the system is incorporated into a mobile device associated with the user.

35. The system of claim 30, further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to provide, by way of a graphical user interface, a selectable option for requesting a time block be reserved for travel time.

36. The system of claim 35, further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to create the calendar event based on a selection of the selectable option by the user.

37. The system of claim 30, further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:

detect a change associated with the appointment; and

in response to the change associated with the appointment, modify or cancel the calendar event.

38. A mobile device comprising:

a display;

at least one processor; and

a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to;

identify a first geographic location and an end time associated with a first appointment in a calendar application;

identify a second geographic location and a start time associated with a second appointment in the calendar application;

identify a travel time associated travel from the first geographic location to the second geographic location; and

create a calendar event associated with the travel time.
