Abstract

A system includes a memory operable to store a search index. The system also includes a processor communicatively coupled to the memory. The processor is operable to receive a search request relating to information stored in an ontology. The processor is further operable to parse the search request to determine a search type. The processor is further operable to query, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a memory operable to store a search index; and

a processor communicatively coupled to the memory and operable to;

receive a search request relating to information stored in an ontology;

parse the search request to determine a search type; and

query, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises identifying a symbol in the search index based on the search request, wherein the symbol corresponds to a particular instance in the ontology.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises identifying one or more instances in the ontology based on the search request.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises:

identifying a symbol in the search index based on the search request, wherein the symbol corresponds to a particular instance in the ontology;

submitting a query to the ontology based on the symbol; and

receiving, in response to the query, one or more instances from the ontology, wherein the one or more instances are related to the particular instance in the ontology.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is further operable to query the search index and the ontology in parallel.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is further operable to generate the search index at least in part by indexing data stored in the ontology.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is further operable to:

receive a plurality of terms, the terms having been generated by processing unstructured data from a data source; and

generate the search index at least in part by indexing the plurality of terms.

8. A method, comprising:

receiving a search request relating to information stored in an ontology;

parsing the search request to determine a search type; and

querying, by a processor, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of a search index and the ontology.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises identifying a symbol in the search index based on the search request, wherein the symbol corresponds to a particular instance in the ontology.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises identifying one or more instances in the ontology based on the search request.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises:

identifying a symbol in the search index based on the search request, wherein the symbol corresponds to a particular instance in the ontology;

submitting a query to the ontology based on the symbol; and

receiving, in response to the query, one or more instances from the ontology, wherein the one or more instances are related to the particular instance in the ontology.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the search index and the ontology are queried in parallel.

13. The method of claim 8, further comprising generating the search index at least in part by indexing data stored in the ontology.

14. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving a plurality of terms generated by processing unstructured data from a data source; and

generating the search index at least in part by indexing the plurality of terms.

15. One or more non-transitory storage media embodying logic that is operable when executed by one or more processors to:

receive a search request relating to information stored in an ontology;

parse the search request to determine a search type; and

query, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of a search index and the ontology.

16. The storage media of claim 15, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises identifying a symbol in the search index based on the search request, wherein the symbol corresponds to a particular instance in the ontology.

17. The storage media of claim 15, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises identifying one or more instances in the ontology based on the search request.

18. The storage media of claim 15, wherein querying, based at least in part on the search type, one or more of the search index and the ontology comprises:

identifying a symbol in the search index based on the search request, wherein the symbol corresponds to a particular instance in the ontology;

submitting a query to the ontology based on the symbol; and

receiving, in response to the query, one or more instances from the ontology, wherein the one or more instances are related to the particular instance in the ontology.

19. The storage media of claim 15, wherein the logic is further operable when executed to query the search index and the ontology in parallel.

20. The storage media of claim 15, wherein the logic is further operable when executed to generate the search index at least in part by indexing data stored in the ontology.

21. The storage media of claim 15, wherein the logic is further operable when executed to:

receive a plurality of terms, the terms having been generated by processing unstructured data from a data source; and

generate the search index at least in part by indexing the plurality of terms.
