1. A system comprising:
- a three-dimensional printer;
a coupling adapted to receive a supply of a build material;
a tag sensor communicatively associated with the three-dimensional printer, the tag sensor configured to read data from a data tag associated with the supply of build material that characterizes at least one property of the build material; and
a controller for the three-dimensional printer, the controller configured to control operation of the three-dimensional printer to fabricate an object, and the controller further configured to receive the data from the tag sensor and to determine an operational parameter for the three-dimensional printer based on the at least one property of the build material in the data.

Abstract
A supply of build material such as a spool or cartridge is instrumented with a data tag that includes information about the build material. A three-dimensional printer can read the information from the tag and determine how to use the build material during fabrication of a three-dimensional object.

18. A method, comprising:
-
providing a three-dimensional printer that includes a controller and a tag sensor; coupling a container of a build material to the three-dimensional printer, the container including a tag that stores at least one property of the build material; reading data from the tag with the tag sensor; transmitting the data to the controller; determining an operational parameter for a fabrication process of the three-dimensional printer with the controller based upon the data; and fabricating an object with the three-dimensional printer based upon the operational parameter. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21)
