Abstract

A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided. A mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention generates a memo corresponding to a captured image in a memo mode, displays an item group including at least one item on a touchscreen in a memo mode, links at least one item of the item group with a generated memo and stores the item linked with the memo. Accordingly, utilization of a memo is improved by linking the memo with an item executable in the mobile terminal

Claims

1. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a touchscreen;

a memory; and

a controller configured to;

capture an image displayed on the touchscreen;

receive a handwriting input via the touchscreen;

generate a memo item including the captured image and the received handwriting input;

cause the touchscreen to display an item group including at least one item category in response to a first touch input received via the touchscreen, the at least one item category including one or more items;

link an item of the at least one item category with the generated memo item in response to a second touch input; and

cause the memory to store the linked at least one item and the generated memo item.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the first touch input includes a sliding touch gesture starting at an edge of the touchscreen;

and

the controller is further configured to cause the touchscreen to display;

an item region in response to the first touch input; and

the item group within the item region.

The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the controller is further configured to cause the touchscreen to display an item category window in response to a third touch input selecting an item category of the item group, and display the items of the selected item category within the item category window.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to cause the touchscreen to display:

at least one handwriting function object each corresponding to a respective function to alter a characteristic of the received handwriting input; and

the received handwriting input with an altered characteristic in response to a third touch input selecting one of the at least one handwriting function object.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the item group includes at least:

a first item category including items added by a user and downloaded from an external server and stored in the memory;

a second item category including items pre-stored in the memory of the mobile terminal;

or

a third item category including items for controlling operations of the mobile terminal.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the second touch input comprises a dragging touch gesture dragging the item of the at least one item category to the generated memo item.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to cause the touchscreen to display an icon representing the linked item on the generated memo item.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to:

cause the touchscreen to display the generated memo item and the linked item upon execution of the generated memo item; and

execute the linked item in response to a third input selecting the linked item while the generated memo item is displayed.

The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the at least one item category of the item group includes at least a map application, a messaging application, a calendar application, a calculator application, a music file, one or more items related to telephone call functions, a wireless Internet setting function;

or one or more items related to functions for recommending items to be added to the memo.

10. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a radio frequency (RF) communication unit;

a touchscreen; and

a controller configured to;

receive a memo file linked with at least one item via the RF communication unit, the memo file comprising a handwriting input;

cause the touchscreen to display a memo corresponding to the memo file and the at least one item upon execution of the memo file; and

execute a selected item of the at least one item in response to a first touch input selecting the item while the memo is displayed.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 10, wherein the controller is further configured to:

recognize a character string of the handwriting input by performing an optical character recognition process using the handwriting input; and

use the recognized character string for executing the selected item.

12. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

capturing an image displayed on a touchscreen;

receiving a handwriting input and generating a memo item including the received handwriting touch input and the captured image;

receiving a first touch input comprising a sliding touch gesture starting from an edge of the touchscreen;

displaying an item region in response to the first touch input;

displaying an item group including at least one item category within the item region, the at least one item category including one or more items;

receiving a second touch input comprising a dragging touch gesture dragging an item of the at least one item category to the generated memo item; and

linking the dragged item with the generated memo item and storing the linked item and the generated memo item in a memory.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying an icon representing the linked item on the generated memo item.

14. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying an item category window in response to a third touch input selecting an item category of the item group, and displaying the items of the selected item category within the item category window.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

displaying the generated memo item and the linked item upon execution of the generated memo item; and

executing the linked item in response to a third touch input selecting the linked item while the generated memo is displayed.

16. The method of claim 12, wherein the item group includes at least:

a first item category including items added by a user and downloaded from an external server and stored in the memory;

a second item category including items pre-stored in the memory of the mobile terminal;

or

a third item category including items for controlling operations of the mobile terminal.

17. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying at least one handwriting function object each corresponding to a respective function to alter a characteristic of the received handwriting input.

18. The method of claim 12, wherein the at least one item category of the item group includes at least a map application, a messaging application, a calendar application, a calculator application, a music file, one or more items related to telephone call functions, one or more items related to a wireless Internet setting function;

or one or more items related to a function for recommending items to be added to the memo.

19. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, comprising:

receiving a file via an RF communication unit, the received file corresponding to a memo item linked with at least one item, the memo item comprising a handwriting input;

displaying the memo item and the linked at least one item on a touchscreen in response to a touch input executing the memo item; and

executing the linked at least one item in response to a touch input selecting the linked at least one item while the memo item is displayed.

20. The method of claim 19, further comprising:

recognizing a character string of the handwriting input by performing an optical character recognition process using the handwriting input; and

using the recognized character string for executing the linked at least one item.
