Automated Authorization to Access Surveillance Video Based on Pre-Specified Events
First Claim
1. A method for authorizing access to video surveillance data, comprising:
- recording, in a data processing system, at least one pre-specified automatically detectable condition for granting real-time access to surveillance video generated by a surveillance domain by at least one person not having unconditional real-time access to said surveillance video generated by said surveillance domain;
receiving, in said data processing system, a request on behalf of a requestor to access to said surveillance video to access said surveillance video generated by said surveillance domain in real-time, said requestor being one of said at least one person not having unconditional real-time access to said surveillance video generated by said surveillance domain;
responsive to receiving said request, automatically determining, with said data processing system, whether said at least one pre-specified automatically detectable condition for granting real-time access to said surveillance video generated by said surveillance domain is met; and
responsive to determining that said at least one pre-specified automatically detectable condition is met, automatically authorizing, with said data processing system, real-time access by said requestor to the requested surveillance video.

Abstract
Real-time access by a requestor to surveillance video is conditionally pre-authorized dependent on the existence of at least one pre-specified automatically detectable condition, and recorded in a data processing system. A requestor subsequently requests real-time access to the surveillance video (e.g., as a result of an alarm), and if the pre-specified automatically detectable condition is met, access is automatically granted, i.e., without the need for manual intervention. An automatically detectable condition could, e.g., be an alarm condition detected by a sensor at the site of the video surveillance. Alternatively, it could be a locational proximity of the requestor to the site of the video surveillance. Alternatively, it could be a previously defined time interval.
