Abstract

A circuit protection assembly includes a mounting block, a unitary fuse assembly, a post assembly and a plug connector. The unitary fuse assembly is disposed the mounting block and includes a plurality of fuses each of which is defined by a portion of a bus plate disposed on the lower surface of the mounting block to form a first terminal of the fuse, a second terminal disposed at least partially on the upper surface of the mounting block and a fuse element connecting the first terminal and the second terminal. The post assembly is disposed at least partially within the mounting block and a post extending from the block. The plug connector extends from a portion of the first terminal of at least one of the plurality of fuses.

Claims

1. A circuit protection assembly comprising:

a mounting block having a wall disposed substantially orthogonal to upper and lower surfaces;

a plug connector extending from a portion of said upper surface to form a first terminal; and

a unitary fuse assembly disposed at least partially around said mounting block, said unitary fuse assembly having a bus plate disposed under said lower surface to form a second terminal and a fuse element disposed adjacent to said wall and substantially orthogonal to and connecting said first terminal to said second terminal.

2. The circuit protection assembly of claim 1, wherein said mounting block has a recess in said wall and said unitary fuse assembly comprises a terminal portion disposed in said recess to electrically connect said terminal portion to said first terminal.

The circuit protection assembly of claim 2, wherein said plug connector is a first plug connector, said portion of said upper surface is a first portion, and said fuse element is a first fuse element, said circuit protection assembly further comprising a second plug connector extending from a second portion of said upper surface to form a third terminal, said unitary fuse assembly having a second fuse element disposed adjacent to said wall and substantially orthogonal to and connecting said third terminal and said second terminal.

The circuit protection assembly of claim 3, wherein said recess is a first recess, said terminal portion is a first terminal portion, said mounting block has a second recess in said wall, and said unitary fuse assembly comprises a second terminal portion disposed in said second recess to electrically connect said second terminal portion to said third terminal.

5. The circuit protection assembly of claim 4, wherein said first fuse element and said second fuse element are disposed a distance away from said wall to accommodate heat dissipation from each of said first and second fuse elements.

The circuit protection assembly of claim 5, said mounting block further comprising a recess cavity in said upper surface, said unitary fuse assembly further comprising a fourth fuse terminal and a third fuse element disposed substantially orthogonal to said fourth fuse terminal and adjacent to said wall, said fourth fuse terminal having a centrally disposed aperture configured align with said recess cavity.

7. The circuit protection assembly of claim 6, comprising a connection segment extending from said bus plate for connection to a power source.

8. The circuit protection assembly of claim 1, further comprising a cover extending from said first terminal of said fuse to said second terminal of said fuse wherein said cover is disposed over said fuse element.

9. A circuit protection assembly comprising:

a mounting block having a wall disposed substantially orthogonal to an upper surface and a lower surface and a recess cavity in said upper surface; and

a plurality of fuses each defined by upper and lower fuse terminals and a fuse element connecting said upper and lower fuse terminals, said fuse element disposed substantially orthogonal to said upper and lower fuse terminals, a first one of said upper fuse terminals having a centrally disposed aperture configured to align with said recess cavity such that said plurality of fuses are disposed partially around said mounting block, said fuse elements are retained adjacent to said wall and said lower fuse terminals are retained adjacent to said lower surface.

10. The circuit protection assembly of claim 9, further comprising a bus bar extending along a length of said lower surface of said mounting block, said bus bar electrically connected with said lower fuse terminals.

11. The circuit protection assembly of claim 10, further comprising a power connection assembly located at a first end of said mounting block and configured to supply power to said bus bar.

12. The circuit protection assembly of claim 11, wherein said power connection assembly further comprises a fuse disposed between said first one of said upper fuse terminals and said corresponding lower fuse terminal.

13. The circuit protection assembly of claim 12, further comprising a post having a first end disposed through said aperture of said first one of said upper fuse terminals and in said recess cavity.

14. The circuit protection assembly of claim 9, wherein said wall has a plurality of recesses over which at least a portion of corresponding fuse elements are disposed.

15. The circuit protection assembly of claim 9, wherein each of said fuse elements are disposed a distance away from said wall to accommodate heat dissipation from each of said fuse elements.

16. The circuit protection assembly of claim 9, further comprising a cover extending from said upper fuse terminals to said lower fuse terminals, wherein said cover is disposed over said fuse elements.

17. A circuit protection assembly comprising:

a mounting block having a recess cavity in an upper surface of said mounting block; and

a fuse having an upper fuse terminal, a lower fuse terminal, and a fuse element disposed substantially orthogonal to said upper and lower fuse terminals, said upper fuse terminal having a centrally disposed aperture configured to align with said recess cavity such that said fuse is disposed partially around said mounting block, said fuse element is retained adjacent to a wall of said mounting block, said wall being disposed substantially orthogonal to said upper surface and a lower surface of said mounting block, and said lower fuse terminal is retained adjacent to said lower surface.

18. The circuit protection assembly of claim 17, further comprising a bus bar disposed under said lower surface of said mounting block, said bus bar in contact with said lower fuse terminal.

19. The circuit protection assembly of claim 17, further comprising a cover extending from said upper fuse terminal of said fuse to said lower fuse terminal of said fuse wherein said cover is disposed over said fuse element.

20. The circuit protection assembly of claim 17, wherein said wall has a recesses over which at least a portion of said fuse elements is disposed.
