Abstract

Systems and methods for receiving input data at a touch sensitive display are provided. Athletic training data is displayed to a user. The user performs activities, such as attempting basketball shots. The user then uses a number of fingers to tap or swipe the touch sensitive display to input parameters. A tap with one finger may indicate a made one point shot and a swipe with two fingers may indicate a missed two point shot.

Claims

1. A mobile computer device comprising:

a touch sensitive display;

a processor;

a computer-readable memory containing computer-executable instructions that when executed cause the processor to;

(a) present athletic training session data to a user;

(b) receive input data from the touch sensitive display that represents a number of fingers used to input data to the touch sensitive display; and

(c) process the input data to distinguish between athletic activities.

2. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the athletic training session data comprises basketball training data the input data represents point values of shots attempted.

3. The mobile computing device of claim 2, wherein one finger represents a one point shot.

4. The mobile computing device of claim 3, wherein two fingers represents a two point shot.

5. The mobile computing device of claim 2, wherein a tap represents one of a made shot or a missed shot.

6. The mobile computing device of claim 5, wherein a tap represents a made shot.

7. The mobile computing device of claim 5, wherein a swipe represents the other of a made shot or a missed shot.

8. The mobile computing device of claim 7, wherein a swipe represents a missed shot.

9. The mobile computing device of claim 8, further comprising computer-executable instructions that when executed cause the processor to:

(i) determine a duration of a touch on the touch sensitive display;

(ii) determine if a region of the touch sensitive screen initially contacted by a user differs from a region of the touch sensitive screen at the end of the touch; and

(ii) distinguish between a tap and a swipe based on the determinations made in (i) and (ii).

10. The mobile computing device of claim 2, wherein a swipe in a first direction represents one of a made shot or a missed shot.

11. The mobile computing device of claim 10, wherein a swipe in a second direction different from the first direction represents the other of a made shot or a missed shot.

12. The mobile computing device of claim 2, further comprising computer-executable instructions that when executed cause the processor to calculate shots made and shots missed.

13. The mobile computing device of claim 2, further comprising computer-executable instructions that when executed cause the processor to calculate shots made and shots missed by shot type.

14. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein (c) comprises determining an amount of area of the touch sensitive display covered by fingers to distinguish inputs of one finger, two fingers and three fingers.

15. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the mobile computing device comprises a mobile phone.

16. A computer implemented method of providing training information to a user, the method comprising:

(a) displaying athletic training data on a touch sensitive display of a mobile computing device;

(b) receiving input data at the touch sensitive display from a variable number of fingers.

(c) determining performance values at a processor of the mobile computing device based upon the received input data.

17. The computer implemented method of claim 16, wherein the athletic training data comprises basketball training data and the input data represents point values of shots attempted.

18. The computer implemented method of claim 17, wherein an input of one finger in (b) represents a one point shot.

19. The computer implemented method of claim 18, wherein an input of two fingers in (b) represents a two point shot.

20. The computer implemented method of claim 19, wherein a tap represents one of a made shot or a missed shot and a swipe represents the other of a made shot or a missed shot.
