Abstract

A method usable by an electronic device displays in display image, content of a plurality of transmitted and received conversation messages. In an aspect, the messages may be displayed for an individual date, sequentially collated by date and time. In response to at least one detected touch on a touch screen, the method may compress at least one of (a) the transmitted or (b) received, conversation messages and displays an image element representing at least one of the compressed conversation messages.

Claims

1. A method usable by an electronic device, the method comprising:

displaying content of a plurality of transmitted and received conversation messages for an individual date, sequentially collated by date and time;

in response to at least one detected touch on a touch screen, compressing at least one of L

(a) the transmitted and

(b) received, conversation messages; and

displaying an image element representing at least one of the compressed conversation messages.

2. The method of claim 1, including

displaying the image element wherein

the content of a plurality of transmitted and received conversation messages concern a single subject and include

detecting the at least one detected touch for compressing the conversation messages comprises:

detecting a first touch for a first message of the plurality of conversation messages; and

detecting a second touch corresponding to a second message of the plurality of conversation messages.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

retrieving the second message scrolling in response to the second touch.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein compressing the conversation messages in response to the at least one detected touch comprises:

compressing conversation messages between a first message corresponding to a first touch and a second message corresponding to a second touch.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein detecting the at least one detected touch comprises detecting a touch of an object corresponding to a specific date.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein compressing the conversation messages in response to the at least one detected touch comprises:

compressing conversation messages transmitted or received on a touched specific date.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein detecting the at least one detected touch for compressing the conversation messages comprises:

detecting a first touch of an object corresponding to a first specific date; and

detecting a second touch of an object corresponding to a second specific date.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

retrieving the object corresponding to the second specific date via scrolling in response to the second touch.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein compressing the conversation messages in response to the at least one detected touch comprises:

compressing conversation messages for each date between an object corresponding to a touched first specific date and an object corresponding to a second specific date.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the compressed conversation messages are represented by overlapped image elements displayed in a form of an icon indicating the conversation messages are compressed.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

displaying information regarding the compressed conversation messages.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the information regarding the compressed conversation messages comprises one of a specific date, a transmission or reception time of a conversation message, a portion of content or entire content of a first message and a title input by a user.

13. A method usable by an electronic device, the method comprising:

displaying image elements representing a plurality of compressed transmitted and received conversation messages;

detecting a gesture selecting one compressed conversation message of the plurality of compressed conversation messages via a displayed image element; and

transmitting messages including the selected one compressed conversation message to a destination associated with a source of a received conversation message in response to the detected gesture.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the gesture is an operation for touching the one compressed conversation message, or an operation for selecting and moving the one compressed conversation message to a specific region.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the specific region is a region partitioned with reference to a vertical axis.

16. A method for managing a message in an electronic device, the method comprising:

displaying content of a plurality of transmitted and received conversation messages sequentially collated by date and time;

text matching content of at least one message of the plurality of conversation messages with predetermined words in a database;

displaying a division line in a display image dividing the image into at least two areas; and

partitioning image elements representing the conversation messages for presentation in an area of the at least two areas selected in response to the text matching.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the words in the database data comprise a specific phrase, a word defined in advance, or data associated with a specific conversation message.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein displaying the division line for comprises:

selecting one matching message;

determining whether messages preceding or subsequent to a respective associated transmission or reception time correspond to specific conversation content of the selected one message;

selecting a message corresponding to a start of the specific conversation content; and

displaying a line representing the message corresponding to the start of the specific conversation content.

19. The method of claim 16, wherein the division line for dividing the messages is a mark representing a start message of specific conversation content.

20. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

dividing the plurality of conversation messages in a form of at least one page.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein the page is determined in response to content of a message between a start time point and an end time point of message transmission or reception, or determined depending on a point at which a message transmission or reception event does not occur for a predetermined time.

22. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

selecting at least one message; and

moving the selected at least one message to a message group corresponding to a partitioned specific subject.

23. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

linking at least one message of the plurality of conversation messages to another application.

24. A method of processing a message for use by an electronic device, the method comprising:

partitioning and displaying image elements representing a plurality of compressed transmitted and received conversation messages in respective areas within at least one displayed image page;

detecting a gesture using a touch screen displaying a page comprising an image element representing one conversation message of the plurality of conversation messages; and

transmitting the one conversation message to a destination associated with a source of a received conversation message in response to the detected gesture.

25. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

dividing the plurality of compressed conversation messages using a division line representing a start message of specific conversation content, and displaying information regarding the partitioned messages;

detecting a touch of an object corresponding to the information regarding the partitioned messages; and

transmitting the partitioned messages in response to the touch.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein the information regarding the partitioned messages comprises a short cut icon corresponding to the partitioned messages and a conversation title.

27. The method of claim 24, wherein the gesture is a gesture operation of turning a page, and including outputting a sound effect of turning a page.

28. An electronic device comprising:

a touchscreen;

one or more processors;

a non-transitory memory; and

one or more programs stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors,

wherein the program comprises instruction executable for,

listing and displaying content of a plurality of transmitted and received conversation messages for an individual date, detecting at least one touch via a touch screen; and

compressing the conversation messages in response to the detected at least one touch.

29. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the instructions comprise instructions for detecting a first touch of a first message of the plurality of conversation messages, and detecting a second touch corresponding to a second message of the plurality of conversation messages.

30. The electronic device of claim 29, further comprising an instruction for retrieving the second message via scrolling in response to the second touch.

31. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the instruction for compressing the conversation messages in response to the at least one touch comprises:

an instruction for compressing conversation messages between a first message corresponding to a first touch and a second message corresponding to a second touch.

32. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the instruction for detecting the at least one touch for compressing the conversation messages comprises:

an instruction for detecting a touch of an object corresponding to a specific date.

33. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the instruction for compressing the conversation messages in response to the at least one touch comprises:

an instruction for compressing conversation messages transmitted or received on a touched specific date.

34. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the instruction for detecting the at least one touch for compressing the conversation messages comprises:

an instruction for detecting a first touch of an object corresponding to a first specific date, and

detecting a second touch of an object corresponding to a second specific date.

35. The electronic device of claim 34, further comprising:

an instruction for retrieving an object corresponding to the second specific date via scrolling in response to the second touch.

36. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the instruction for compressing the conversation messages in response to the at least one touch comprises:

an instruction for compressing conversation messages for each date between an object corresponding to a touched first specific date and an object corresponding to a second specific date.

37. The electronic device of claim 28, wherein the compressed conversation messages are represented by overlapped image elements indicating compressed conversation messages.

38. The electronic device of claim 28, further comprising:

an instruction for displaying information regarding the compressed conversation messages.

39. The electronic device of claim 38, wherein the information regarding the compressed conversation messages comprises one of a specific date, a transmission or reception time of a conversation message, a portion of content or entire content of a first message of the compressed conversation messages, and a title input by a user.

40. An electronic device comprising:

a touchscreen;

one or more processors;

a non-transitory memory; and

one or more programs stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors,

wherein the program comprises an instruction for,

displaying a plurality of compressed conversation messages,

detecting a gesture for selecting one compressed conversation message of the plurality of compressed conversation messages, and

transmitting messages including the selected one compressed conversation message to a destination associated with a source of a received conversation message in response to the detected gesture.

41. The electronic device of claim 40, wherein the gesture is an operation for touching the one compressed conversation message, or an operation for selecting and moving the one compressed conversation message to a specific region.

42. The electronic device of claim 41, wherein the specific region is a region partitioned with reference to a vertical axis.

43. An electronic device comprising:

a touchscreen;

one or more processors;

a non-transitory memory; and

one or more programs stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors,

wherein the program comprises instruction for,

listing and displaying content of a plurality of transmitted and received conversation messages,

text matching content of at least one message of the plurality of conversation messages with words in a database and

displaying a division line for dividing messages based on the text matching at least one message.

44. The electronic device of claim 43, wherein the database data comprises a specific phrase, a word defined in advance, or meaningful data.

45. The electronic device of claim 43, wherein the instruction for displaying the division line for dividing the messages based on the text matching at least one message comprises:

an instruction for selecting one message of a plurality of matching messages,

determining whether messages before and after transmission or reception time of the selected one message correspond to specific conversation content,

selecting a message corresponding to a start of the specific conversation content, and

displaying a line representing the message corresponding to the start of the specific conversation content.

46. The electronic device of claim 43, wherein the division line for dividing the messages is a mark for identifying a start message of specific conversation content.

47. The electronic device of claim 43, further comprising an instruction for dividing the plurality of conversation messages in a form of at least one page.

48. The electronic device of claim 43, wherein the page is determined depending on a message between a start point and an end point of message transmission and reception, or determined depending on a point at which a message transmission or reception event does not occur for a predetermined time.

49. The electronic device of claim 43, further comprising:

an instruction for selecting at least one message, and

moving the selected at least one message to a message group corresponding to a partitioned image area for a specific subject.

50. The electronic device of claim 43, further comprising:

an instruction for linking at least one message of the plurality of conversation messages to another application.

51. An electronic device comprising:

a touchscreen;

one or more processors;

a memory; and

one or more programs stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors,

wherein the program comprises an instruction for,

dividing and displaying a plurality of compressed transmitted and received conversation messages in a form of at least one page,

detecting a gesture for a page comprising one conversation message of the conversation messages partitioned in the form of the at least one page, and

transmitting conversation messages included in the page to at least one counterpart user in response to the gesture.

52. The electronic device of claim 51, further comprising:

an instruction for dividing the plurality of compressed conversation messages using a division line for identifying a start message of specific conversation content, and displaying information regarding the partitioned messages,

detecting a touch of an object corresponding to the information regarding the partitioned messages, and

transmitting the partitioned messages in response to the touch.

53. The electronic device of claim 51, wherein the information regarding the partitioned messages comprises a short cut icon corresponding to the partitioned messages and a conversation title.

54. The electronic device of claim 51, wherein the gesture is a gesture operation of turning a page, and including outputting a sound effect of turning a page.
