1. A method by a first mobile data processing system, the method comprising:
- maintaining, by the first mobile data processing system, first profile information for being matched to second profile information of a second mobile data processing system;
receiving, by the first mobile data processing system, a first broadcast unidirectional wireless data record containing the second profile information directly from the second mobile data processing system in the vicinity of the first mobile data processing system, the second profile information containing information configured by a second user of the second mobile data processing system for being received by the first mobile data processing system to solicit a first response from the first mobile data processing system, the first response resulting from the first mobile data processing system comparing and matching the first profile information of the first mobile data processing system with the second profile information; and
transmitting, by the first mobile data processing system, the first response for receipt by the second mobile data processing system, wherein the first response is for notifying the second user of the second mobile data processing system of the first mobile data processing system comparing and matching first profile information of the first mobile data processing system with the second profile information.

Abstract
Provided is a distributed system and method for enabling new and useful location dependent features and functionality to mobile data processing systems. Mobile data processing systems (MSs) interact with each other as peers in communications and interoperability. Data is shared between mobile data processing systems to carry out novel Location Based eXchanges (LBX) of data for new mobile applications. Information which is transmitted inbound to, transmitted outbound from, or is in process at, a mobile data processing system, is used to trigger processing of actions in accordance with user configured permissions, charters, and other configurations. In a preferred embodiment, a user configurable platform is provided for quickly building well behaving LBX applications at MSs and across a plurality of interoperating MSs.
