1. A method for detecting an object in a radar field of a radar device, comprising arranging a simulator in a stationary manner in said radar field, said radar device having a radar transmitter and a radar receiver capable of simulating a speed profile which is defined by temporally consecutive speed changes, actuating said simulator so as to simulate at least one predetermined atypical speed profile which cannot be associated with any expectable moving object, receiving simulator signals at said radar receiver caused by said simulator, and receiving status information associated with the atypical speed profile derived from said simulator signals, in addition to receiving reflection signals from objects moving through said radar field.
