Abstract

Example techniques and systems may obtain one or more search types associated with a geographic location of a computing device. In one example, a technique may include determining, by a mobile computing device, a geographic location of the mobile computing device and obtaining one or more search types associated with the geographic location. Responsive to obtaining the one or more search types, the technique may also include outputting, by the mobile computing device and for display, a graphical user interface comprising at least an indication of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining, by a mobile computing device, a geographic location of the mobile computing device;

obtaining one or more search types associated with the geographic location; and

responsive to obtaining the one or more search types, outputting, by the mobile computing device and for display, a graphical user interface comprising at least an indication of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein obtaining the one or more search types associated with the geographic location comprises determining, by the mobile computing device, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein determining the one or more search types associated with the geographic location comprises:

comparing, by the mobile computing device, the geographic location to a set of geographic locations; and

determining, by the mobile computing device and based at least in part on the comparison, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein determining the one or more search types associated with the geographic location comprises:

determining, by the mobile computing device, that the geographic location of the mobile computing device is within a threshold distance from a location associated with the one or more search types.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein determining the one or more search types comprises determining, based on the geographic location and a type of the mobile computing device, the one or more search types.

6. The method of claim 2, wherein determining the one or more search types comprises determining, based on the geographic location, a current time during which the geographic location was determined, and a scheduled event associated with the mobile computing device, the one or more search types.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein obtaining the one or more search types associated with the geographic location comprises:

transmitting, by the mobile computing device and via a network, the geographic location to a networked device; and

receiving, from the networked device, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more search types comprises a visual search type corresponding to one or more of a barcode scanning capability, a quick response code scanning capability, an image recognizer capability, and an optical character recognition capability.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving user input selecting one of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location, wherein the selected search type comprises a visual search type;

obtaining, by at least one optical sensor, one or more images;

transmitting, by the mobile computing device and via a network, the one or more images to a networked device;

receiving, from the networked device and based on at least one of the one or more images, at least one search result; and

outputting, by the mobile computing device and for display, the graphical user interface comprising an indication of the at least one search result.

10. A mobile computing device comprising:

one or more processors;

a device location module operable by the one or more processors to determine a geographic location of the mobile computing device; and

a predictive module operable by the one or more processors to;

obtain one or more search types associated with the geographic location; and

responsive to obtaining the one or more search types, output, for display, a graphical user interface comprising at least an indication of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

11. The mobile computing device of claim 10, wherein the predictive module is operable by the one or more processors to determine the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

12. The mobile computing device of claim 11, wherein the predictive module is operable by the one or more processors to:

compare the geographic location to a set of geographic locations; and

determine, based at least in part on the comparison, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

13. The mobile computing device of claim 11, wherein the predictive module is operable by the one or more processors to:

obtain, from a memory, a type of the mobile computing device; and

determine, based on the geographic location and the type of the mobile computing device, the one or more search types.

14. The mobile computing device of claim 10, further comprising a communication unit, wherein the predictive module is operable by the one or more processors to

transmit, via the communication unit and a network, the geographic location to a networked device;

and

receive, from the networked device and via the communication unit, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

15. The mobile computing device of claim 10, wherein the one or more search types comprises a visual search type corresponding to one or more of a barcode scanning capability, a quick response code scanning capability, an image recognizer capability, and an optical character recognition capability.

16. The mobile computing device of claim 10, further comprising:

an input device to receive user input selecting one of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location, wherein the selected search type comprises a visual search type;

at least one optical sensor to obtain one or more images; and

a communication unit to transmit, via a network, the one or more images to a networked device and receive, from the networked device and based on at least one of the one or more images, at least one search result,

wherein the predictive module is operable by the one or more processors to output, for display, the graphical user interface comprising an indication of the at least one search result.

17. A computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, configure one or more processors of a computing device to:

determine a geographic location at which the computing device is located;

obtain one or more search types associated with the geographic location; and

responsive to obtaining the search type, output, for display, an indication of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the instructions that, when executed, configure the one or more processors to obtain the one or more search types associated with the geographic location comprise instructions that, when executed, configure the one or more processors to:

obtain, from a memory, a set of geographic locations;

compare the geographic location at which the computing device is located to the set of geographic locations; and

determine, based at least in part on the comparison, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location at which the computing device is located.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the instructions that, when executed, configure the one or more processors to obtain the one or more search types associated with the geographic location comprise the instructions that, when executed, configure the one or more processors to:

transmit, via a network, the geographic location to a networked device; and

receive, from the networked device, the one or more search types associated with the geographic location.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, further comprising instructions that, when executed, configure the one or more processors to:

receive user input selecting one of the one or more search types associated with the geographic location, wherein the selected search type comprises a visual search type;

obtain, by at least one optical sensor, one or more images;

transmit, via a network, the one or more images to a networked device;

receive, from the networked device and based on at least one of the one or more images, at least one search result; and

output, for display, an indication of the at least one search result.
