Abstract

Methods, systems, and products provide a personalized monitoring service. Data is collected and compared to user-defined rules and ranges of data. User-defined labels may be applied to the data and to the ranges. Notification messages may be sent to any recipient to notify of the data. The labels explain the data and any abnormal condition.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

retrieving a profile associated with an end-user of a service;

retrieving data specified by the end-user that is generated by a process running in a cloud computing environment;

retrieving from the profile a rule defined by the end-user;

retrieving from the rule an end-user defined range of the data specified by the end-user;

comparing, by a processor, the data to the end-user defined range of the data;

determining, by the processor, that the data lies outside the end-user defined range of the data;

retrieving an action specified by the end user when the data lies outside the end-user defined range of the data; and

executing the action specified by the end user.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving a list of notification addresses associated with the rule.

3. The method according to claim 2, further comprising sending a notification to an address in the list of notification addresses.

4. The method according to claim 3, further comprising logging the notification in a log associated with the rule.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving an end-user defined label associated with the end-user defined range of the data.

6. The method according to claim 5, further comprising sending the end-user defined label in a message to an address specified in a list of notification addresses associated with the rule.

7. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

memory to store instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising;

retrieving a profile associated with an end-user of a rule-based service;

retrieving a device identifier from the profile;

sending the device identifier in queries to processes operating in a cloud computing environment;

retrieving data associated with the device identifier generated by the processes operating in the cloud computing environment;

retrieving different ranges of the data associated with the device identifier;

comparing the data to the different ranges of the data;

determining that the data lies within one of the ranges of the data;

retrieving a rule associated with the one range of the data; and

executing an action specified by the rule.

8. The system according to claim 7, wherein the operations further comprise retrieving a list of notification addresses associated with the rule.

9. The system according to claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise sending a notification to an address in the list of notification addresses.

10. The system according to claim 7, wherein the operations further comprise retrieving a label specified by the end-user that corresponds to the one range of the data.

11. The system according to claim 10, wherein the operations further comprise retrieving a list of notification addresses associated with the rule.

12. The system according to claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise sending the label in a message to an address in the list of notification addresses.

13. The system according to claim 12, wherein the operations further comprise logging the message in a log associated with the device identifier.

14. A computer readable medium storing processor executable instructions for performing operations, the operations comprising:

retrieving a profile associated with an end-user of a monitoring service;

retrieving a device identifier from the profile;

sending the device identifier in queries to processes operating in a cloud computing environment;

retrieving data associated with the device identifier generated by the processes operating in the cloud computing environment;

retrieving different ranges of the data associated with the device identifier;

comparing the data to the different ranges of the data;

determining that the data lies within one of the ranges of the data;

retrieving a rule associated with the one range of the data; and

executing an action specified by the rule.

15. The computer readable medium according to claim 14, wherein the operations further comprise retrieving from the profile a query address associated with the device identifier.

16. The computer readable medium according to claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise sending a query to the query address associated with the device identifier.

17. The computer readable medium according to claim 14, wherein the operations further comprise retrieving a list of notification addresses associated with the rule.

18. The computer readable medium according to claim 17, wherein the operations further comprise sending a notification to an address in the list of notification addresses.

19. The computer readable medium according to claim 14, wherein the operations further comprise retrieving a label specified by the end-user that corresponds to the one range of the data.

20. The computer readable medium according to claim 19, wherein the operations further comprise sending the label in a message to an address specified by the rule.
