1. A touch screen system for displaying a display image and for sensing a touch event, comprising:
- a capacitive touch system configured to sense a touch location and generate a location signal representative of a touch location for the touch event;
an optical force-sensing system operably disposed relative to the capacitive touch system and configured to optically detect a touching force applied at the touch location and generate a force signal representative of the touching force applied at the touch location; and
a microcontroller electrically connected to the capacitive touch system and the optical force-sensing system, the microcontroller configured to receive the force signal and the location signal and change an aspect of the display image based on the force signal and the touch signal.

Abstract
Touch screen systems and methods based on touch location and touching force are disclosed. The touch screen system includes an optical force-sensing system interfaced with a capacitive touch sensing system so that both touch location and touch force information can be obtained. A display that utilizes the touch screen system is also disclosed.

11. A method of changing at least one aspect a displayed imaged on a display system, comprising:
-
capactively sensing a location of a touch event at a touch location and generating in response a touch signal representative of the touch event location; optically sensing a touching force associated with the touch event and generating in response at least one force signal representative of the touching force; processing the touch signal and at least one force signal to change the at least one aspect of the displayed image. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
