Abstract

The present invention relates to a mobile communication system, and to a method for managing terminal paging in the system. A paging method of a terminal is characterized by comprising the steps of: receiving, from a base station, both a local counter value for synchronization with the base station and a local ID that the base station has allocated to the terminal; synchronizing the base station and the counter using the local counter value so as to enter an idle state; and checking the local counter and a paging trigger message contained in the subframe corresponding to the local ID. According to the present invention, local IDs are each allocated to the respective multiple MTC terminals, and therefore trigger periods can be efficiently managed in a network. Further, the multiple MTC terminals can be grouped using the allocated local IDs, thus achieving advantages of an increased number of MTC terminals which can be managed in the network.

Claims

1. A terminal paging method of a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, at a terminal, a local counter value for synchronization with a base station and a local ID allocated to the terminal by the base station from the base station;

synchronizing a counter with the base station using the local counter value and entering an idle state; and

checking a paging trigger message included in a subframe corresponding to the local counter and local ID.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, after entering the idle state, a second local counter value and a second local ID caused by cell reselection from a second base station; and

deleting, when a predetermined period elapses, the local counter value and local ID before the cell reselection.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the local ID is a group local ID allocated to at least one terminal among the terminals synchronized with the base station.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the group local ID is the local ID generated by configuring a part remained after excluding of common part of the local ID allocated to at least one terminal in a form of mask.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the checking of the paging trigger message comprises checking the trigger message in a Paging Occasion (PO) duration corresponding to the local ID in a subframe corresponding to the local counter.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the receiving of the local counter value and the local ID comprises receiving a Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connection Release message including the local counter value and the local ID.

7. A paging method of a base station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting to a terminal a local counter value for synchronization of the terminal with the base station and a local ID allocated by the terminal;

receiving a paging request message from an MME; and

transmitting to the terminal a paging trigger message in a subframe corresponding to the local counter and the local ID.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the local ID is a group local ID allocated to at least one terminal among the terminals synchronized with the base station.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the group local ID is the local ID generated by configuring a part remained after excluding of common part of the local ID allocated to at least one terminal in a form of mask.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the transmitting of the paging trigger message comprises transmitting the trigger message in a Paging Occasion (PO) duration corresponding to the local ID in a subframe corresponding to the local counter.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the transmitting of the local counter value and local ID comprises transmitting to the terminal a Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connection Release message including the local counter value and the local ID.

12. A terminal for processing a paging in a mobile communication system, the terminal comprising:

a communication unit which transmits and receives signals to and from a base station; and

a control unit which controls receiving, at a terminal, a local counter value for synchronization with a base station and a local ID allocated to the terminal by the base station from the base station, synchronizes a counter with the base station using the local counter value, enters an idle state, and checks a paging trigger message included in a subframe corresponding to the local counter and local IDA

13. The terminal of claim 12, wherein the control unit control receiving a second local counter value and a second local ID caused by cell reselection from a second base station and deletes, when a predetermined period elapses, the local counter value and local ID before the cell reselection.

14. The terminal of claim 13, wherein the local ID is a group local ID allocated to at least one terminal among the terminals synchronized with the base station.

15. The terminal of claim 14, wherein the group local ID is the local ID generated by configuring a part remained after excluding of common part of the local ID allocated to at least one terminal in a form of mask.

16. The terminal of claim 15, wherein the control unit checks the trigger message in a Paging Occasion (PO) duration corresponding to the local ID in a subframe corresponding to the local counter.

17. The terminal of claim 16, wherein the control unit controls receiving a Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connection Release message including the local counter value and the local ID.

18. A base station of managing of paging a terminal in a mobile communication system, the base station comprises:

a communication unit which transmits and receives signal to and from a terminal or an MME; and

a control unit which controls transmitting to a terminal a local counter value for synchronization of the terminal with the base station and a local ID allocated by the terminal, receiving a paging request message from an MME, and transmitting to the terminal a paging trigger message in a subframe corresponding to the local counter and the local ID.

19. The base station of claim 18, wherein the local ID is a group local ID allocated to at least one terminal among the terminals synchronized with the base station.

20. The base station of claim 19, wherein the group local ID is the local ID generated by configuring a part remained after excluding of common part of the local ID allocated to at least one terminal in a form of mask.

21. The base station of claim 20, wherein the control unit controls transmitting the trigger message in a Paging Occasion (PO) duration corresponding to the local ID in a subframe corresponding to the local counter.

22. The base station of claim 21, wherein the control unit controls transmitting to the terminal a Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connection Release message including the local counter value and the local ID.
