Abstract

A discovery signal transmission/reception method and an apparatus for improving energy efficiency of the system are provided. The discovery signal transmission method of a base station in a mobile communication system according to the present disclosure includes acquiring a discovery signal configuration of a neighbor cell, transmitting the discovery signal configuration to a terminal, receiving a measurement report including a result of measurement on a discovery signal of the neighbor from the terminal, the measurement being performed based on the discovery signal configuration, and determining whether to make a handover decision for the terminal based on the measurement report. The discovery signal transmission/reception method of the present disclosure is advantageous in improving energy efficiency of a mobile communication system.

Claims

1. A discovery signal transmission method of a base station in a mobile communication system, the discovery signal transmission method comprising:

identifying a discovery signal configuration of a neighbor cell;

transmitting the discovery signal configuration to a terminal; and

receiving a measurement report including a result of measurement on a discovery signal of the neighbor from the terminal, the measurement being performed based on the discovery signal configuration.

2. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 1, wherein the discovery signal configuration comprises at least one of discovery signal transmission interval, transmission timing, bandwidth, resource mapping information, sequence information, and timing information.

3. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 1, wherein the identifying of the discovery signal configuration of the neighbor cell comprises receiving the discovery signal configuration from the neighbor cell.

4. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 1, wherein the identifying of the discovery signal configuration of the neighbor cell comprises transmitting the discovery signal configuration to the neighbor cell.

The discovery signal transmission method of claim 1, wherein the identifying of the discovery signal configuration of the neighbor cell comprises identifying information on one of the discovery signal configuration including a sequence corresponding to System Frame Number (SFN) of a frame carrying the discovery signal of the neighbor cell and the discovery signal configuration including sequences corresponding to plural SFNs.

6. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 1, wherein the measurement report is received when the neighbor cell is in an active state or in a dormant state or regardless of whether the neighbor cell is in the active state or the dormant state.

7. A discovery signal reception method of a terminal in a mobile communication system, the discovery signal reception method comprising:

receiving a discovery signal configuration of a neighbor cell from a base station;

measuring a discovery signal of the neighbor cell based on the discovery signal configuration; and

reporting a measurement result on the discovery signal.

8. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 7, wherein the discovery signal configuration comprises at least one of discovery signal transmission interval, transmission timing, bandwidth, resource mapping information, sequence information, and timing information.

The discovery signal transmission method of claim 7, further comprising identifying information on one of the discovery signal configuration including a sequence corresponding to System Frame Number (SFN) of a frame carrying the discovery signal of the neighbor cell and the discovery signal configuration including sequences corresponding to plural SFNs.

The discovery signal transmission method of claim 7, wherein the discovery signal is detected when the discovery signal comprises state information of the neighbor cell which includes sequences or indices corresponding to active state and dormant state of the neighbor cell or when the neighbor cell is in the dormant state.

11. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 7, wherein the measurement result on the discovery signal is reported when the neighbor cell is in an active state or a dormant state or regardless of whether the neighbor cell is in the active or dormant state.

12. A discovery signal transmission method of a base station of a wireless mobile communication system, the discovery signal transmission method comprising:

identifying a discovery signal configuration of the base station; and

transmitting a discovery signal according to the discovery signal configuration,

wherein the discovery signal configuration comprises at least one of discovery signal transmission interval, transmission timing, bandwidth, resource mapping information, sequence information, and timing information.

13. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 12, wherein the identifying of the discovery signal configuration comprises one of receiving the discovery signal configuration information from a neighbor cell and transmitting the discovery signal configuration information to the neighbor cell.

The discovery signal transmission method of claim 12, wherein the identifying of the discovery signal configuration comprises identifying information on one of the discovery signal configuration including a sequence corresponding to System Frame Number (SFN) of a frame carrying the discovery signal of the neighbor cell and the discovery signal configuration including sequences corresponding to plural SFNs.

15. The discovery signal transmission method of claim 12, wherein the discovery signal is detected when the discovery signal comprises state information of the neighbor cell which includes sequences or indices corresponding to active state and dormant state of the neighbor cell or when the neighbor cell is in the dormant state.

16. A base station of a mobile communication system, the base station comprising:

a transceiver configured to communicate with other base stations and a terminal; and

a controller configured to control the transceiver to acquire a discovery signal configuration of a neighbor cell, transmit the discovery signal configuration to a terminal, and receive a measurement report including a result of measurement on a discovery signal of the neighbor from the terminal, the measurement being performed based on the discovery signal configuration.

17. The base station of claim 16, wherein the discovery signal configuration comprises at least one of discovery signal transmission interval, transmission timing, bandwidth, resource mapping information, sequence information, and timing information.

18. The base station of claim 16, wherein the controller is configured to control the transceiver to perform one of receiving the discovery signal configuration from the neighbor cell and transmitting the discovery signal to the neighbor cell.

The base station of claim 16, wherein the controller is configured to identify information on one of the discovery signal configuration including a sequence corresponding to System Frame Number (SFN) of a frame carrying the discovery signal of the neighbor cell and the discovery signal configuration including sequences corresponding to plural SFNs, and the measurement report is received when the neighbor cell is in an active state or a dormant state or regardless of whether the neighbor cell is in the active or dormant state.

20. A terminal of a mobile communication system, the terminal comprising:

a transceiver configured to communicate with a base station; and

a controller configured to control the transceiver to receive a discovery signal configuration of a neighbor cell from a base station, measure a discovery signal of the neighbor cell based on the discovery signal configuration, and report a measurement result on the discovery signal.

21. The terminal of claim 20, wherein the discovery signal configuration comprises at least one of discovery signal transmission interval, transmission timing, bandwidth, resource mapping information, sequence information, and timing information.

22. The terminal of claim 20, wherein the controller is configured to identify information on one of the discovery signal configuration including a sequence corresponding to System Frame Number (SFN) of a frame carrying the discovery signal of the neighbor cell and the discovery signal configuration including sequences corresponding to plural SFNs, ant the discovery signal is detected when the discovery signal comprises state information of the neighbor cell which includes sequences or indices corresponding to active state and dormant state of the neighbor cell or when the neighbor cell is in the dormant state.

23. A base station of a wireless mobile communication system, the base station comprising:

a transceiver configured to communicate with other base stations and terminals; and

a controller configured to identify a discovery signal configuration of the base station and to control the transceiver to transmit a discovery signal according to the discovery signal configuration,

wherein the discovery signal configuration comprises at least one of discovery signal transmission interval, transmission timing, bandwidth, resource mapping information, sequence information, and timing information.

The base station of claim 23, wherein the controller is configured to control the transceiver to perform one of receiving the discovery signal configuration information from a neighbor cell and transmitting the discovery signal configuration information to the neighbor cell and identifies information on one of the discovery signal configuration including a sequence corresponding to System Frame Number (SFN) of a frame carrying the discovery signal of the neighbor cell and the discovery signal configuration including sequences corresponding to plural SFNs, and the discovery signal is detected when the discovery signal comprises state information of the neighbor cell which includes sequences or indices corresponding to active state and dormant state of the neighbor cell or when the neighbor cell is in the dormant state.
