Abstract

An augmented reality system for a food product includes an edible media or a food product decoration with an embedded augmented reality marker and a related application for a mobile device. The application presents augmented reality content associated with the augmented reality marker. The application permits access to the augmented reality content in response to detection of the application recognizing the embedded augmented reality marker.

Claims

1. An augmented reality system for a food product, comprising:

a food product decoration including an augmented reality marker embedded on the food product decoration; and

an application executable by processing circuitry of a mobile device, the application being configured to present augmented reality content associated with the augmented reality marker,

wherein the application is further configured to permit access to the augmented reality content in response to detection of the application recognizing the augmented reality marker embedded on the food product decoration.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the food product decoration is a decorative pic including an openable flap, the augmented reality marker being embedded on an inside face of the decorative pic.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the decorative pic includes an image of a graduation cap on an outside face of the decorative pic and the augmented reality marker is formed in the shape of a graduation cap on the inside face of the decorative pic.

The system of claim 3, wherein the augmented reality content includes a virtual graduation cap that appears on a screen of the mobile device together with an image of a user taken by a camera of the mobile device, the virtual graduation cap being located on a head of the user on the screen of the mobile device and configured to move with the image of the user on the screen of the mobile device.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the decorative pic includes an image of a balloon on an outside face of the decorative pic and the augmented reality marker is formed in the shape of a balloon on the inside face of the decorative pic.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the augmented reality content includes virtual balloons that appear on a screen of the mobile device together with an image taken by a camera of the mobile device, the virtual balloons being configured to float through the image on the screen of the mobile device.

The system of claim 6, wherein the augmented reality content includes popping of one of the virtual balloons in response to the user touching the screen of the mobile device at a location corresponding to the one of the virtual balloons and recording a score for each of the virtual balloons that is popped.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the food product decoration is three-dimensional, and the augmented reality marker is embedded in the three dimensions of the food product decoration such that the application detects the augmented reality marker from a two-dimensional image of the three-dimensional food product decoration.

9. A food product decoration, comprising:

a prong to be inserted into a food product;

a body attached to the prong; and

an augmented reality marker embedded on the body,

wherein the augmented reality marker is configured to be recognized by an application executed by processing circuitry of a mobile device, the application being configured to present augmented reality content associated with the augmented reality marker, the augmented reality content being accessed in response to detection of the augmented reality marker embedded on the food product decoration.

10. The food product decoration of claim 9, wherein the body includes an openable flap and the augmented reality marker is embedded on an inside surface of the body and accessible by opening the openable flap.

11. A mobile device, comprising:

a display screen;

a camera; and

processing circuitry configured to execute an augmented reality application,

wherein the augmented reality application includes;

an image obtaining unit implemented by the processing circuitry and configured to obtain images from the camera;

a detection unit implemented by the processing circuitry and configured to detect augmented reality marker embedded on a food product decoration from an obtained image,

a content obtaining unit implemented by the processing circuitry and configured to obtain augmented reality content corresponding to the detected augmented reality marker, and

a presentation unit implemented by the processing circuitry and configured to overlay the obtained augmented reality content onto an obtained image creating a combined image, and to display the combined image on the display screen.

12. An augmented reality system for a food product, comprising:

an edible media including an image with an embedded augmented reality marker; and

an application executable by processing circuitry of a mobile device, the application being configured to present augmented reality content associated with the augmented reality marker,

wherein the application is further configured to permit access to the augmented reality content in response to detection of the application recognizing the augmented reality marker embedded in the image of the edible media.
