Abstract

A system, method and apparatus for managing a football match on a hand held computerized device is presented. The hand held computerized devices includes a first display screen disposed substantially opposite a second display screen. Pre-match information for a first team and a second team are entered into the hand held computer device. Match related events, such as goals, penalties and substitutions are entered on the hand held computer device. The device compiles match events and said pre-match information into a match log, and wirelessly transmits the match log to a receiver, such as a match following device.

Claims

1. A method for managing a football match on a hand held computer device comprising a first display screen disposed substantially opposite a second display screen, comprising the steps of:

entering pre-match information for a first team and a second team into said hand held computer device;

recording a plurality of match events on said hand held computer device;

compiling said plurality of match events and said pre-match information into a match log; and

wirelessly transmitting, by said computer device, said match log to a receiver.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said pre-match information comprises:

a match venue;

a match date;

a team name; and

a match scheduled duration.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein said pre-match information further comprises a team roster.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said team roster further comprises;

a starting roster;

a substitute list; and

a coach name.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said plurality of match events comprise:

a match start time; and

a match actual duration.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein said plurality of match events further comprise:

a goal;

a penalty;

a player substitution; and

a penalty kick.

7. The method of claim 4, further comprising the step of displaying a list of team members from said team roster.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein said list of team members comprises:

a coach;

an active player; and

a substitute player.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising the steps of accepting a selection of a selected team member from said list of team members.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising the step of recording a scored goal by said selected team member.

11. The method of claim 9, further comprising the step of recording a card warning for said selected team member.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein said card warning is selected from a group consisting of a first yellow card, a second yellow card, and a red card.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising the steps of:

if said card warning is a first yellow warning or a second yellow warning, setting a first screen background color of said first display screen and a second screen background color of said second display screen to yellow; and

if said card warning is a red warning, setting said first screen background color and said second screen background color to red.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising the step of displaying a player number in the foreground of said first screen background color and said second screen background color.

15. The method of claim 9, further comprising the step of replacing said selected team member with a substitute player from said list of team members.

16. The method of claim 9, further comprising the steps of:

simulating a coin flip; and

starting a match timer clock recording an elapsed match time.

17. The method of claim 5, further comprising the steps of:

stopping said match timer clock for a penalty; and

starting a stoppage time clock recording a stoppage time.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising the step of at the end of a scheduled match half, adding said stoppage time to said match timer clock.

19. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of calculating the distance between a football and a nearest opposing team player.

20. The method of claim 1, further comprising the steps of

receiving a goal alert message;

and

accepting a goal alert selection to either accept or ignore said goal alert message.

21. The method of claim 1, further comprising the steps of:

entering a match report; and

transmitting said match report.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein said match report comprises said match log.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising the steps of:

copying said match log; and

pasting said match log into said match report.

24. The method of claim 7, further comprising the steps of:

accepting a selection of a selected team member from said list of team members;

recording an outcome of a penalty kick by said selected team member; and

indicating said outcome of said penalty kick in said list of team members,

wherein said list of team members comprises a first penalty kicker and a second penalty kicker.

25. A method for following a football match being managed by a first football match managing apparatus, comprising the steps of:

receiving a selection comprising identifying information of a first football match being managed by said first football match managing apparatus;

receiving information transmitted by said first football match managing apparatus regarding said first football match; and

displaying said information regarding said first football match.

26. The method of claim 25, further comprising the steps of:

receiving a selection comprising identifying information of a second football match being managed by said second football match managing apparatus;

receiving information transmitted by said second football match managing apparatus regarding said second football match; and

displaying said information regarding said second football match.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein said information regarding said first football match is displayed concurrently with displaying said information regarding said second football match.

28. A football match management system comprising:

a dual display hand held computer device comprising a first display screen disposed substantially opposite a second display screen, wherein said dual display hand held computer device is configured to perform the steps of;

entering pre-match information for a first team and a second team into said hand held computer device;

recording a plurality of match events on said hand held computer device;

compiling said plurality of match events and said pre-match information into a match log; and

transmitting, by said computer device, said match log to a receiver; and

a receiver configured to receive said match log and display one of said plurality of match events.

29. A hand held football match management apparatus comprising:

a first display screen configured to display information pertaining to a football match;

a second display screen disposed substantially opposite said first display screen;

a wireless transceiver;

means for receiving data input via said first display screen.

30. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said apparatus is configured to:

track elapsed time of said football match; and

generate an alert after a predetermined time interval.
