Abstract

The invention provides compounds that are chemically modified by covalent attachment of a water-soluble oligomer. A compound of the invention, when administered by any of a number of administration routes, exhibits characteristics that are different from those of the compound not attached to the water-soluble oligomer.

21. The compound of claim 11, wherein n is an integer from 1 to 10.

22. A composition comprising a compound of claim 11 and optionally, a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

23. The composition of claim 22, wherein the composition is suitable for oral administration.

24. The composition of claim 22, wherein the composition comprises about 0.001 mg to about 1000 mg of a compound for claim 11.

25. The composition of claim 23, in tablet, caplet, or capsule form.

26. A method of treating pain, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of claim 11 to a patient in need thereof.

27. A method of treating pain, comprising administering a composition of claim 22 to a patient in need thereof.
