Abstract

A display apparatus includes: an image processor; a display unit; a remote controller which includes a touch input unit to detect motion of a user; a remote control signal receiver which receives a remote control signal from the remote controller corresponding to the motion of a user; and a controller which displays the content information window as if the content information window enters from an outside of a display area to an inside of the display area in accordance with the motion that a user moves from an outside of an area of the touch input unit to an inside of the area, or stops displaying the content information window as if the content information window exits from the inside of the display area to the outside of the display area in accordance with the motion that a user moves from the inside of the area of the touch input unit to the outside of the touch input unit.

Claims

1. A display system comprising:

a remote controller comprising a touch input unit to detect a touch input; and

a display device comprising;

an image processor which processes an image of at least one of a plurality of contents;

a display unit which displays the image of one of the contents;

a remote control signal receiver which receives a remote control signal from the remote controller corresponding to the touch input; and

a controller configured to display an information window over the content image on the display unit when the touch input moves from an edge region of the touch input unit to an inside region of the touch input unit.

2. The display system according to claim 1, wherein the information window comprises a side window that appears from one of side edges of the display unit.

3. The display system according to claim 2, wherein, when the touch input moves from the edge region of the touch input to a first inside region of the touch input unit, the side window having a first width is displayed along the one of side regions of the display unit, and

when the touch input moves further inside from the first inside region to a second inside region of the touch input, the side window having a second width, which is larger than the first width, is displayed.

The display system according to claim 2, wherein, when the touch input moves from the edge region of the touch input unit to the inside region of the touch input unit, the controller controls the display of the side window to start appearing from one of side regions of the display unit over the content image in an overlapping manner.

5. The display system according to claim 2, wherein the controller is configured to stop displaying the side window on the display unit when the touch input moves from the inside region of the touch input unit to the edge region of the touch input unit.

6. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the remote controller detects a first touch input of the user, and

wherein the controller groups a plurality of user interface (UI) items representing the plurality of contents into a plurality of pages comprising groups of the plurality of contents, and arranges the plurality of pages according to a first order, and displays on the display unit one page of the plurality of pages, and

wherein the controller changes the one page which is displayed to display another page of the plurality of pages, the other page being arranged in the first order a number of pages away from the one page, and

wherein the number of pages is based on a movement amount corresponding to the first touch input.

7. The display apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the group of the UI items of at least the one page are arranged in a grid.

8. The display apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the group of the UI items of at least the one page are arranged in a band.

9. The display apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the one page is displayed together with the image of a currently selected content from among the groups.

The display apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the remote controller detects a second touch input received at the touch input unit, and the controller starts or ends displaying the content information window while the image of at least one of the plurality of contents is displayed corresponding to the second touch input.

The display apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the remote controller detects a third touch input received at the touch input unit, wherein the plurality of contents are classified into a plurality of categories, wherein the controller arranges the plurality of categories according to a second order, and displays a group of contents of the plurality of contents belonging to at least one category of the plurality of categories, wherein the controller changes displaying of the group of contents belonging to the at least one category to display another group of contents of the plurality of contents belonging to another one of the plurality of categories, the other group of contents belonging to the other category being arranged in the second order a number of groups away from the one group belonging to the one category, wherein the number of groups is based on a movement amount corresponding to the third touch input.

12. The display apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the first touch input corresponds to a motion performed in a first direction, and the third touch input corresponds to a motion performed in a second direction that is different from the first direction.

13. The display apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the first and second directions correspond to one of an up direction and a down direction and a left direction and a right direction, respectively.

The display apparatus according to claim 13, wherein if the touch input of the motion is performed in a diagonal direction, the controller determines the movement amount of the one page and the one category based on a component of the movement amount in the up and down direction and a component of the movement amount in the left and right direction of the motion.

The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the starting of the displaying moves the content information window into a display area of the display unit so that the content information window appears to enter the display area from an outside of the display area to an inside of the display area, and the stopping of the displaying moves the content information window out of the display area so that the content information window appears to exit the display area from the inside of the display area to the outside of the display area.

15. A method of controlling a display system which comprises a remote controller, the method comprising:

detecting a touch input of a user on a touch input unit disposed on the remote controller;

receiving a remote control signal corresponding to the touch input of the user; and

displaying an information window over the content image on the display unit when the touch input moves from an edge region of the touch input unit to an inside region of the touch input unit.

16. The control method according to claim 15, wherein the information window comprises a side window that appears from one of side edges of the display unit.

17. The control method according to claim 16, wherein, when the touch input moves from the edge region of the touch input to a first inside region of the touch input unit, the side window having a first width is displayed along the one of side regions of the display unit, and

when the touch input moves further inside from the first inside region to a second inside region of the touch input, the side window having a second width, which is larger than the first width, is displayed.

18. The control method according to claim 16, wherein, when the touch input moves from the edge region of the touch input unit to the inside region of the touch input unit, the controller controls the display of the side window to start appearing from one of side regions of the display unit over the content image in an overlapping manner.

19. The control method according to claim 16, wherein the controller is configured to stop displaying the side window on the display unit when the touch input moves from the inside region of the touch input unit to the edge region of the touch input unit.

20. The control method according to claim 15, further comprising:

grouping a plurality of user interface (UI) items representing the plurality of contents into a plurality of pages, and arranging the plurality of pages according to a first order;

displaying at least one page of the plurality of pages;

detecting a first touch input of the user received by the touch input unit;

receiving a remote control signal corresponding to the first touch input; and

changing the displaying of the at least one page to display another page of the plurality of pages, the other page being arranged in the first order a number of pages away from the one page, wherein the number of pages is based on a movement amount corresponding to the first touch input.

21. The control method according to claim 20, wherein in the one page, the plurality of contents are arranged in a grid.

22. The control method according to claim 20, wherein in the one page, the plurality of contents are arranged in a band.

23. The control method according to claim 20, wherein the one page is displayed together with the image of a currently selected content from among the plurality of contents.

24. The control method according to claim 20, further comprising:

displaying the image of the at least one content;

detecting a second touch input of a user received by the touch input unit; and

starting or ending the displaying of the content information window while the image is displayed, the starting or ending corresponding to the second touch input.

25. The control method according to claim 20, further comprising:

displaying a group of contents of the plurality of contents which belongs to at least one category of a plurality of categories;

arranging the plurality of categories according to a second order;

detecting a third touch input of the user received by the touch input unit; and

changing the displaying of the group of contents belonging to the at least one category to display another group of contents of the plurality of contents belonging to another category, the other group of contents belonging to the other category being arranged in the second order a number of groups away from the one group of contents belonging to the one category, wherein the number of groups is based on a movement amount corresponding to the third touch input.

26. The control method according to claim 25, wherein the first touch input corresponds to the motion that is performed in a first direction, and the third touch input corresponds to the motion that is performed in a second direction that is different from the first direction.

30. The method according to claim 15, wherein the starting of the displaying moves the content information window into a display area so that the content information window appears to enter the display area from an outside of the display area to an inside of the display area, and the stopping of the displaying moves the content information window out of the display area so that the content information window appears to exit the display area from the inside of the display area to the outside of the display area.

31. A method of controlling a display system, the method comprising:

categorizing a plurality of items into a plurality of categories;

dividing the plurality of items in at least one of the categories into a plurality of groups of items;

displaying on a display screen one group of items of the plurality of groups of items;

receiving a touch input from a user; and

switching the one group of items which is displayed to display another group of items of the plurality of groups of items corresponding to the one category if the motion input is in a first direction.

34. An electronic apparatus comprising:

a display unit; and

a processing unit configured to control the display unit to display a moving image and an information window over the moving image when a touch input moves from an edge region of a touch input unit to an inside region of the touch input unit.
