Abstract

A system and method of advertising based on the automatic determination of an advertising recipient'"'"'s location and inferences of preferences derived from usage behaviors is disclosed. The advertising recipient'"'"'s location that is considered in delivering a specific advertisement may be the current location or one or more historical locations. Proximity considerations with regard to other people, locations, or physical objects may influence the advertisement that is to be delivered. The advertisement may be delivered to a mobile device that has location-aware capabilities such as a Global Positioning System-based system.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

accessing, using a processing device, at least one storage device configured to store;

a plurality of objects configured to represent at least one user;

a plurality of content objects configured to represent information;

a plurality of relationships configured to represent at least one relationship between at least a portion of the plurality of objects, between the at least a portion of the plurality of objects and at least a portion of the plurality of content objects, or between the at least a portion of the plurality of content objects; and

a plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user configured to represent at least one interaction of the at least one user with any other user or with any content object;

determining, using the processing device, a physical location that is associated with the at least one user;

determining, using the processing device, relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors based at least in part on the current location;

inferring, using the processing device, affinities between the plurality of objects, between the usage behavioral patterns, between behavioral categories, or between behavioral clusters;

identifying, using the processing device, at least one content object comprising an advertisement based at least in part on at least a portion of the plurality of usage behaviors and the affinities;

delivering, using the processing device, the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to the at least one user; and

recursively updating, using the processing device, the plurality of objects, the plurality of content objects, or the plurality of relationships with the delivery of the at least one content object comprising the advertisement after the identifying.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

inferring the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on changes in the physical location of the at least one user over time.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

inferring the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on a duration the at least one user remains at the physical location.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

inferring the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on a physical proximity of the at least one user to another user.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

inferring the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least on part, on a proximity of the at least one user to a physical object.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

automatically determining the physical location that is associated with the at least one user by applying a global positioning system.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

delivering the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to a mobile device associated with the at least one user.

8. A system, comprising:

at least one storage device configured to store;

a plurality of objects configured to represent at least one user;

a plurality of content objects configured to represent information;

a plurality of relationships between at least a portion of the plurality of objects; and

a plurality of relationships configured to represent at least one relationship between at least a portion of the plurality of objects, between the at least a portion of the plurality of objects and at least a portion of the plurality of content objects, or between the at least a portion of the plurality of content objects; and

a plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user configured to represent at least one interaction of the at least one user with any other user or with any content object; and

at least one processing device configured to execute;

a function to automatically determine a physical location associated with the at least one user;

a function to determine relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors based at least in part on the current location;

a function to infer affinities between the plurality of objects, between the usage behavioral patterns, between behavioral categories, or between behavioral clusters;

a function to identify at least one content object comprising an advertisement based at least in part on at least a portion of the plurality of usage behaviors and the affinities;

a function to deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to the at least one user; and

a function to recursively update the plurality of objects, the plurality of content objects, or the plurality of relationships with the delivery of the at least one content object comprising the advertisement after identifying the at least one content object comprising an advertisement.

The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute a function to infer the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on changes in the physical location of the at least one user over time.

The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute a function to infer the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on a duration the at least one user remains at the physical location.

The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute a function to infer the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on a physical proximity of the at least one user to another user.

The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute a function to infer the relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user based, at least in part, on a proximity of the at least one user to a physical object.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute a function to automatically determine the physical location that is associated with the at least one user by applying a global positioning system.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute a function to automatically deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to mobile device associated with the at least one user.

15. A system, comprising:

at least one storage device configured to store;

a plurality of objects configured to represent at least one user;

a plurality of content objects configured to represent information;

a plurality of relationships configured to represent at least one relationship between at least a portion of the plurality of objects, between the at least a portion of the plurality of objects and at least a portion of the plurality of content objects, or between the at least a portion of the plurality of content objects; and

a plurality of usage behaviors associated with the at least one user configured to represent at least one interaction of the at least one user with any other user or with any content object; and

at least one processing device configured to execute instructions to;

automatically determine a physical location associated with the at least one user;

determine relevant usage behavioral patterns, behavioral categories, or behavioral clusters in the plurality of usage behaviors based at least in part on the current location;

infer affinities between the plurality of objects, between the usage behavioral patterns, between behavioral categories, or between behavioral clusters;

identify at least one content object comprising an advertisement based at least in part on at least a portion of the plurality of usage behaviors and the affinities;

deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to the at least one user; and

recursively update the plurality of objects, the plurality of content objects, or the plurality of relationships stored in the at least one memory device with the delivery of the at least one content object comprising the advertisement after identifying the at least one content object.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute instructions to deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to the at least one user in accordance with a proximity of the at least one user to another user.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute instructions to deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to the at least one user in accordance with changes in the physical location of the at least one user over time.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute instructions to deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to the at least one user in accordance with a proximity of the at least one user to a physical object.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute instructions to automatically determine the physical location associated with the at least one user by applying a global positioning system.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein the at least one processing device is configured to further execute instructions to deliver the at least one content object comprising the advertisement to a mobile device associated with the at least one user.
