Abstract

A computer-implemented method is disclosed herein. The method includes the step of receiving, with a processing device of a commerce server, one or more shopping list signals from an electronic computing device to establish a shopping list of a plurality of items offered for sale in a retail store. The method also includes the step of transmitting, with the processing device, a first item signal to an augmented reality device worn by a consumer within the retail store. The first item signal corresponds to one of the plurality of items. The method also includes the step of receiving, with the processing device, one or more movement signals from the augmented reality device worn by the consumer corresponding to movement of the consumer. The method also includes the step of changing, with the processing device, from transmitting the first item signal to transmitting a second item signal different from the first item signal in response to the step of receiving the one or more movement signals.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, with a processing device of a commerce server, one or more shopping list signals from an electronic computing device to establish a shopping list of a plurality of items offered for sale in a retail store;

transmitting, with the processing device, a first item signal to an augmented reality device worn by a consumer within the retail store wherein the first item signal corresponds to one of the plurality of items;

receiving, with the processing device, one or more movement signals from the augmented reality device worn by the consumer corresponding to movement of the consumer; and

changing, with the processing device, from transmitting the first item signal to transmitting a second item signal different from the first item signal in response to said step of receiving the one or more movement signals.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing acceleration data of the augmented reality device.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 2 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, successive movement signals within a predetermined time period containing different rates of acceleration for the augmented reality device.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, successive movement signals each containing a different orientation signal for the augmented reality device.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, successive movement signals each containing a different direction signal for the augmented reality device.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 5 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, successive movement signals within a predetermined time period containing different direction signals for the augmented reality device.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a first movement signal containing acceleration data of the augmented reality device, a second movement signal containing direction data indicating that the augmented reality device is directed in a first direction, and a third movement signal containing direction data indicating that the augmented reality device is directed in a second direction different from the first direction, wherein the second and third movement signals are both received within a predetermined time period.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data from the augmented reality device.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data showing movement of a hand of the consumer.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data showing a placement of an item in a shopping cart.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data showing movement of the consumer'"'"'s hand in rotational motion.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data showing movement of the consumer'"'"'s hand in rectilinear motion.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 12 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data showing movement of the consumer'"'"'s hand in horizontal rectilinear motion.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 12 wherein said step of receiving one or more movement signals further comprises:

receiving, with the processing device, a movement signal containing video data showing movement of the consumer'"'"'s hand in vertical rectilinear motion.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 further comprising:

removing, with the processing device, the first item from the shopping list in response to said step of receiving the one or more movement signals.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 further comprising:

retaining, with the processing device, the first item on the shopping list after said changing step.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 further comprising:

selectively revising, with the processing device, the shopping list in response to said step of receiving the one or more movement signals.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 17 wherein said selectively revising step further comprises:

removing, with the processing device, the first item from the shopping list after said step of receiving the one or more movement signals in response to a first movement signal; and

retaining, with the processing device, the first item on the shopping list after said changing step in response to a second movement signal different from the first movement signal.

19. A consumer shopping list system comprising:

a shopping list database; and

a commerce server having a processing device including;

a receiving module configured to receive one or more shopping list signals from an electronic computing device to establish a shopping list of a plurality of items offered for sale in a retail store wherein the shopping list is stored in said shopping list database;

an item selection module configured to select an item from the shopping list;

a transmission module operable to transmit an item signal containing the item selected by said item selection module to an augmented reality device worn by a consumer in a retail store; and

a movement module configured to receive one or more movement signals from the augmented reality device worn by the consumer corresponding to movement of the consumer.

20. A computer-implemented method comprising the steps of:

storing an electronic shopping list with a commerce server of a retail store;

shopping in the retail store while wearing an augmented reality device operable to communicate with the commerce server; and

manipulating the shopping list by electronically communicating a gesture to the commerce server through the augmented reality device.
