Abstract

A file managing method for a digital apparatus includes (a) establishing a folder corresponding to a file type generated in an operational mode of the digital apparatus, and (b) storing a file according to its file type to the folder corresponding to the file type established in step (a).

33. A file managing method comprising:

establishing one or more folders in a memory of an image capturing digital apparatus responsive to capturing information in a first file in a selected operational mode of the image capturing digital apparatus, the folder having a folder type determined according to the selected operational mode;

capturing information in one or more files with the image capturing digital apparatus, each file having a file type;

storing the file in the memory of the image capturing digital apparatus by matching the file type of the file to a folder having a corresponding folder type;

receiving, from a hot key on the image capturing digital apparatus, a transmit signal, the transmit signal corresponding to a particular one of the one or more folders; and

in response to receiving the transmit signal, sending all files stored in the particular one of the one or more folders to an alternative storage device, the alternative storage device remote from the image capturing digital apparatus.

34. The method of claim 33, further comprising utilizing, by the image capturing digital apparatus, corresponding applications to open each of the files according to a name of the established folder containing that file.

35. The method of claim 33, wherein the operational mode comprises one of:

an audio mode, a picture mode, and a video mode.

36. The method of claim 33, further comprising setting up a shortcut, linked to the hotkey, to transmit the files in the particular one of the one or more folders to a corresponding folder on the alternative storage device.

37. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

setting up a first shortcut, linked to the hotkey, to transmit the files in a first one of the one or more folders to the alternative storage device; and

setting up a second shortcut, linked to the hotkey, to transmit the files in a second one of the one or more folders to the alternative storage device.

38. The method of claim 33, wherein the alternative storage device comprises a personal computer.

39. The method of claim 33, wherein sending all files stored in the particular one of the one or more folders to an alternative storage device is performed using wireless network transmission.

40. The method of claim 33, wherein the image capturing digital apparatus comprises a digital camera.

41. The method of claim 33, wherein the image capturing digital apparatus comprises a mobile phone.

42. A memory device storing instructions that, when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to perform operations for managing files in a digital apparatus having an image capturing module, the operations comprising:

determining a current operational mode of the digital apparatus, wherein the digital apparatus has a plurality of operational modes, and wherein the current operational mode is associated with one or more file types;

capturing a file with the digital apparatus, wherein the file has a file type corresponding to the current operational mode of the digital apparatus;

selecting a folder in which to store the captured file based on a correlation between the file type of the file and a folder type of the folder;

storing the captured file in the selected folder; and

automatically transmitting, from the digital apparatus to a storage device remote from the digital apparatus, one or more files from the folder, wherein the computing device stores, as backed-up files, the transmitted one or more files.

43. The memory device of claim 42, further comprising:

utilizing the image capturing module to capture the file as an image file; and

automatically establishing a folder corresponding to the image file type.

44. The memory device of claim 42, further comprising:

utilizing a recording module to capture the file as an audio file; and

automatically establishing the folder corresponding to the audio file type.

45. The memory device of claim 42, wherein the storage device comprises a personal computer.

46. The memory device of claim 42, wherein transmitting, from the digital apparatus to the storage device remote from the digital apparatus, one or more files from the folder, is performed using wireless network transmission.

47. The memory device of claim 42, further comprising, when transmitting the files stored in the established folder to the storage device, automatically creating a corresponding folder having the same type as the established folder on the storage device.

48. The memory device of claim 42, wherein the digital apparatus having an image capturing module comprises a digital camera.

49. The memory device of claim 42, wherein the digital apparatus having an image capturing module comprises a mobile phone.

50. An image capturing digital apparatus comprising:

an input configured to receive a selection of an operational mode;

a folder establishing module configured to, responsive to capturing a first file in a selected operational mode of the image capturing digital apparatus, automatically establish one or more folders in a memory of the image capturing digital apparatus, the folder having a folder type determined according to the selected operational mode;

one or more data inputs configured to capture audio or visual data and create one or more files from the captured audio or visual data, each created file having a file type;

a storage sub-system configured to, in response to creating each of the one or more files, storing that file in the memory of the digital apparatus by matching the file type of the file to a folder having a corresponding folder type;

a hot key configured to a transmit a signal to a processing element of the digital apparatus, the signal corresponding to a particular one of the one or more folders; and

wherein the processing element is configured to, in response to receiving the transmit signal, send all files stored in the particular one of the one or more folders to an alternative storage device remote from the digital apparatus.

51. The image capturing digital apparatus of claim 50, wherein sending all files stored in the particular one of the one or more folders to an alternative storage device is performed using wireless network transmission.

52. The digital apparatus of claim 50, wherein the image capturing digital apparatus comprises a mobile phone.
