Abstract

This invention is a serviceable buffer for an AR-type rifle such as the AR-15. This invention satisfies the need for the user to adjust said buffer weight by opening the buffer housing and adding or removing internal weights to achieve the desired recoil effect. In order for the firearm to function properly, buffer weight is a critical factor in the ejecting of the spent shell casings from the firing chamber and cycling of the firearm.

Claims

1. An adjustable buffer assembly for a firearm that may include the following:

a hollow housing with an internally threaded opening on one end;

a series of internal weights that are housed inside the housing;

a threaded strike face portion that attaches to the housing to contain said weights;

a roll pin; and

a plastic or rubber bumper.

2. An adjustable buffer assembly for a firearm as described in claim 1 in which the hollow housing and the threaded strike face portion are joined together by a threaded interface.

3. An adjustable buffer assembly for a firearm that may include the following:

a hollow housing with an internally threaded opening on one end;

a series of internal weights that are housed inside the housing;

a threaded tail cap that attaches to the housing to contain said weights;

a roll pin; and

a plastic or rubber bumper.

4. An adjustable buffer assembly for a firearm as described in claim 3 in which the hollow housing and the threaded tail cap are joined together by a threaded interface.
