Abstract

Apparatus for delivering liquid color to a plastic resin processing machine includes a scale for weighing a container of liquid color, a pump for removing liquid color from the container and a controller for actuating the pump.

Claims

1. Apparatus for delivering liquid color to a plastic resin process machine, comprising:

a) a scale for weighing a container of liquid color;

b) a pump for removing liquid color from the container and supplying the liquid color to the plastic resin process machine; and

c) a controller for regulating the pump to supply liquid color to the plastic resin process machine at a predetermined rate according to a selected recipe to produce plastic parts having desired characteristics, in response to changes in sensed weight of the container determined by the scale.

2. Apparatus of claim 1 wherein the scale continuously weighs the container.

3. Apparatus of claim 1 wherein the scale supports the container.

4. Apparatus of claim 2 wherein the scale supports the container.

5. Apparatus for delivering liquid color to a plastic resin process machine, comprising:

a) a scale for weighing a container of liquid color; and

b) a pump for removing liquid color from the container and supplying the liquid color to the plastic resin process machine in response to changes in sensed weight of the container determined by the scale.

c) means for continuously comparing actual readings from the scale to expected readings based on a desired predetermined liquid color usage rate and continuously regulating speed of pumping in response to such comparison to supply liquid color directly into the plastic resin process machine screw barrel according to a selected recipe of resin material to produce plastic parts having desired color characteristics.

6. Apparatus of claim 5 wherein the scale continuously weighs the container.

7. Apparatus of claim 5 wherein the scale supports the container.

8. Apparatus of claim 6 wherein the scale supports the container.

9. Apparatus for delivering liquid color into the screw barrel of a plastic resin process machine, comprising:

a) means for weighing a container of liquid color;

b) a pump for pumping liquid color from the container into the screw barrel of the plastic resin process machine; and

c) means for comparing actual weight readings to expected readings based on a desired liquid color usage rate and continuously regulating speed of the pump to supply liquid color to the plastic resin process machine at the desired liquid color usage rate according to a selected recipe of resin material to produce plastic parts having desired color characteristics.

10. Apparatus of claim 9 wherein the weigh means continuously weighs the container.

11. Apparatus of claim 9 wherein the weigh means supports the container.

12. Apparatus of 10 wherein the weigh means supports the container.
