1. An image processing device comprising:
- a decoding unit configured to decode an encoded stream to generate an image;
an adaptive offset processing unit configured to perform an adaptive offset process on the image generated by the decoding unit;
a deblocking filter adjustment unit configured to adjust strength of a deblocking filtering process when a current region in the deblocking filtering process in the image is determined to be a boundary of the current region in the adaptive offset process based on information about a quad-tree structure used in the adaptive offset process; and
a deblocking filtering unit configured to perform the deblocking filtering process on the image subjected to the adaptive offset process by the adaptive offset processing unit, the deblocking filtering process having the strength adjusted by the deblocking filter adjustment unit.

Abstract
The present disclosure relates to image processing devices and methods for more appropriate removal of block distortion and improvement of decoded image quality.
Based on information about a quad-tree structure from an adaptive offset unit, a deblocking filter control unit determines whether the current region in a deblocking filtering process is at a boundary of the current region in an adaptive offset process. If the current region in the deblocking filtering process is at a boundary of the current region in the adaptive offset process, the deblocking filter control unit supplies control information for increasing the filtering strength to a deblocking filter. The present disclosure can be applied to image processing devices, for example.

generating an image by decoding an encoded stream; performing an adaptive offset process on the generated image; adjusting strength of a deblocking filtering process when a current region in the deblocking filtering process in the image is determined to be a boundary of the current region in the adaptive offset process based on information about a quad-tree structure used in the adaptive offset process; and performing the deblocking filtering process on the image subjected to the adaptive offset process, the deblocking filtering process having the adjusted strength, an image processing device generating the image, performing the adaptive offset process, adjusting the strength of the deblocking filtering process, and performing the deblocking filtering process.
