Abstract

Methods and computer program product relate to user input auto-completion. The methods and product are executable on a processing device in a computing system environment so as to provide an auto-completion scheme with enhanced capabilities that improve user efficiency when performing a task.

6. A method, comprising:

identifying, by a processor, a first repository and a second repository;

detecting common patterns in files within the first and second repositories; and

grouping related files into groups within the first and second repositories based on the common patterns.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising, obtaining input data and identifying a particular group relevant to the input data.

8. The method of claim 6 further comprising, obtaining input data and presenting a list of groups to a user for selecting a particular group relevant to the input data.

9. The method of claim 6 further comprising, including at least one file in multiple ones of the groups.

10. The method of claim 6 further comprising, providing an application tool to a user for performing searches against the groups.

11. The method of claim 10, providing the application tool as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tool.

12. The method of claim 6, further comprising, identifying duplicate files within a single group.

13. The method of claim 6, wherein detecting further includes evaluating the common patterns based on bit patterns in the files.

14. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a processor, user input as it is typed;

matching the input as it is typed to auto completion text based on matching the input as it is typed to files grouped in relevancy groups; and

presenting the auto completion text to a user that supplied the user input.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein receiving further includes obtaining the user input independent of a web browser.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein receiving further includes obtaining the user input as syntactically incorrect code data for software code.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein receiving further includes obtaining the user input as comment data embedded in software code.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein receiving further includes obtaining the user input as special formatting codes associated with attributes of text.

19. The method of claim 14, wherein matching further includes identifying multiple candidate files from multiple relevancy groups.

20. The method of claim 14 further comprising, permitting the user to mark a portion of the auto completion text and matching the marked portion to one or more different files in one or more different relevancy groups for presentation to the user.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein permitting further includes automatically pasting a selection from the auto completion text to a file identified by the user.

22. A system, comprising:

a processor;

a relevancy program configured and adapted to;

i) execute on the processor and ii) organize multiple repositories into relevancy groups based on bit patterns in files housed in the multiple repositories.

23. The system of claim 22 further comprising, an application tool configured and adapted to i) execute on the processor, ii) interact with the relevancy program, iii) interact with a user, and iv) receive input as entered by the user into the application tool and stream the input as entered to the relevancy program for identification of auto completion text relevant to the input as entered.

24. The system of claim 23, wherein the application tool is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tool.

25. The system of claim 22, wherein the repositories are software code repositories.
