Abstract

The invention relates to a method for processing at least one data packet (78, 156) which comprises a first header (82, 158) and a payload (100, 160), wherein the first header (82, 158) is processed by a first mode and the payload (100, 160) is processed by a second mode, wherein a number of processing steps (172, 174) for carrying out the second mode is greater than a number of processing steps (168, 170) for carrying out the first mode, the two modes being performed separately from one another.

Claims

1. A method for processing at least one data packet (78, 156) which comprises a first header (82, 158) and a payload (100, 160), wherein the first header (82, 158) is processed by a first mode and the payload (100, 160) is processed by a second mode, wherein a number of processing steps (172, 174) for carrying out the second mode is greater than a number of processing steps (168, 170) for carrying out the first mode, the two first and second modes being performed separately from one another.

2. The method according to claim 1, in which a number of arithmetic operations for carrying out the second mode is greater than a number of arithmetic operations for carrying out the first mode.

3. The method according to claim 1, in which the first mode is a first transmission mode used for the first header (82, 158) and the second mode is a second transmission mode used for the payload (100, 160) in order to transmit the data packet (78, 156).

4. The method according to claim 1, in which the data packet (78, 156) to be processed comprises a second header (90) which has a higher level of complexity than the first header (82, 158) and is processed by the second mode.

A network node for a network (124, 150) for processing at least one data packet (78, 156) which comprises a first header (82, 158) and a payload (100, 160), wherein the network node (120, 152, 154) processes the first header (82, 158) with a first mode and the payload (100, 160) with a second mode, wherein a number of processing steps (172, 174) for carrying out the second mode is greater than a number of processing steps (168, 170) for carrying out the first mode, the network node (120, 152, 154) performing the two first and second modes separately from one another.

6. The network node according to claim 5, which comprises a first region (126, 162) for processing the first header (82, 158) with the first mode and a second region (132, 164) for processing the payload (100, 160) with the second mode.

7. The network node according to claim 5, which comprises a first reception path (128, 182) for the first header (82, 158) and a second reception path (134, 164) for the payload (100, 180).

8. The network node according to claim 6, in which the first region (126, 162) comprises an address evaluation module (130) which checks whether the data packet (78, 156) is directed to the network node (120, 152, 154) or not.

9. The network node according to claim 6, in which at least one component of the second region (132, 164) processes the payload (100, 160) if the data packet is directed to the network node (120, 152, 154).

10. The network node according to claim 6, in which the first region (126, 162) provides a wake-up (138, 180) to at least one component of the second region (132) in the event that the data packet (78, 156) is directed to the network node (120, 152, 154).
