Abstract

A data sync engine, a related method and software achieve keeping the data set of a core computer system and a mobile device in sync so that a user may perform operations using several different devices connectable to the core computer system.

Claims

1. A method for synchronizing data between a core computer system and a user device comprising the steps of:

obtaining access to a core computer system that has a database of user data,

obtaining access to a user device that is capable of establishing data communication with said core computer system,

establishing data communication between said core computer system and said user device,

downloading user data from said core computer system to said user device,

on said core computer system, maintaining a list of data changes made to said database of user data which have not yet been made for said user device,

when said user device is in data communication with said user device using said list of data changes to update user data on said user device.

2. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said user device is a mobile computing device.

3. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said core computer system pushed data changes to said user device.

4. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said user device requests data changes from said core computer system.

5. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said list of data changes includes data changes from a third party data source.

6. A method as recited in claim 5 wherein said third party data source is a bank.

7. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said core computer system requires said user device to replace its entire data set rather than downloading data changes.

8. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said data changes are deleted after being downloaded to said user device.

9. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said core computer system includes data state tracking.

10. A method as recited in claim 9 wherein said data state tracking includes updated data, new data and deleted data.

11. A method for synchronizing data between a core computer system and a mobile device comprising the steps of:

obtaining access to a core computer system that has a database of user data, obtaining access to a mobile device that is capable of establishing data communication with said core computer system,

establishing data communication between said core computer system and said mobile device,

downloading user data from said core computer system to said mobile device,

on said mobile computing device, maintaining a list of data changes made to said user data on said mobile device which have not yet been made for said core computer system database,

when said mobile device is in data communication with said core computing system, using said list of data changes to update user data on said database.

12. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said user device is a smart phone.

13. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said mobile computing device pushes data changes to said core computer system.

14. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said user core computer system requests data changes from said mobile computing device.

15. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said mobile computing device permits a user to change data and enter transactions while said mobile computing device is not in data communication with said core computer system.

16. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said data changes are deleted after being uploaded to said database.

17. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said mobile computing device includes data state tracking.

18. A method as recited in claim 17 wherein said data state tracking includes updated data, new data and deleted data.
