Abstract

An intelligent door lock system is provided with a position sensing device configured to be coupled to a drive shaft of a lock device. The position sensing device senses position of the drive shaft and assists in locking and unlocking a lock of a lock device. An engine is provided with a memory coupled to the positioning sensing device. A circuit is coupled to the engine and an energy source is coupled to the circuit. A device converts energy into mechanical energy and is coupled to the circuit, positioning sensing device and the drive shaft. The device that converts energy is coupled to the energy source to receive energy from the energy source.

Claims

1. An intelligent door lock system, comprising:

a position sensing device configured to be coupled to a drive shaft of a lock device, the position sensing device sensing position of the drive shaft to assist in locking and unlocking a lock of a lock device;

an engine with a memory, the engine being coupled to the positioning sensing device;

a circuit coupled to the engine;

an energy source coupled to the circuit; and

a device that converts energy into mechanical energy coupled to the circuit, positioning sensing device and the drive shalt, the device that converts energy being coupled to the energy source to receive energy from the energy source.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the device that converts energy is coupled through the circuit to the energy source.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the intelligent door lock system is installed to an existing lock system already mounted at a door.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the intelligent door lock system is installed at a door without a pre-existing lock device.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a wireless communication device coupled to the circuit.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the position sensing device is an accelerometer.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the accelerometer determines position of the drive shaft and at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

8. The system of claim 6, wherein accelerometer does not require additional power than that required for determining the at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the positioning sensing device in operation is coupled to the device that converts energy that provides for moving a bolt of the lock device to at least one of a locked or unlocked positioned.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the lock can be manually locked and unlocked.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the position sensing device is selected from at least one of, an accelerometer, optical encoder, magnetic encoder, mechanical encoder, Hall Effect sensor, potentiometers, contacts with ticks and an optical camera encoders.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the lock device can be locked or unlocked wirelessly remotely.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the lock device can be locked or unlocked using a mobile device.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the mobile device is a third party mobile device.

15. The system of claim 1, wherein the lock device can be locked or unlocked from a back-end coupled to the intelligent door lock system.

The system of claim 1, wherein the circuit is coupled to at least one of, the processor, the power source, a communication device for a mobile device, the positioning sensing device, a speaker, a temperature sensor, a battery voltage sensor, a current sensor that determines how hard the device that converts energy is working, a protection circuit to protect the device that converts energy from overheating and an LED array.

17. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

wing latches coupled to a chassis of the intelligent door lock system.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the wing latches attach to a mounting plate of the door.

19. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

an intelligent door lock system back-end in wireless communication with the intelligent door lock system.

20. The system of claim 1, wherein the position sensing device is positioned on the drive shaft.

21. The system of claim 1, wherein a sub 1°

resolution in position sensing is provided with the intelligent door lock system.

22. The system of claim 6, wherein the accelerometer provides at least one of, a number of times a door is closed or opened, a degree of door physical swing, of the door, and distance of door swing.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein the accelerometer in operation provides a determination as to whether or not someone successfully swung the door.

27. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

determining a position of the drive shaft and at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

24. A method using an intelligent door lock system, comprising:

coupling a position sensing device to a drive shaft of a lock device;

sensing position of the drive shaft to assist in locking and unlocking a lock of a lock device;

coupling a circuit to an engine with a memory;

using a device that converts energy into mechanical energy that is coupled to the drive shaft; and

rotating the drive shaft to lock and unlock the lock device.

25. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

installing the intelligent door lock system at a door without a pre-existing lock device.

26. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

communicating using a wireless communication device of the intelligent door lock system.

28. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

manually locking or unlocking the door lock device.

29. The method of claim 24, wherein the position sensing device is selected from at least one of, an accelerometer, optical encoder, magnetic encoder, mechanical encoder, Hall Effect sensor, potentiometers, contacts with ticks and an optical camera encoders.

30. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

remotely and wirelessly locking or unlocking the door lock device

31. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

locking or unlocking the door lock device using a mobile device.

32. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

using a back-end associated with the intelligent door lock system to lock or unlock the door lock device.

33. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

using wing latches to mount the intelligent door lock system.

34. An intelligent door lock system, comprising:

a position sensing device means configured to be coupled to a drive shaft means of a lock device means, the position sensing device means sensing position of the drive shaft means to assist in locking and unlocking a lock of a lock device means;

an engine means with a memory, the engine means being coupled to the positioning sensing device means;

a circuit means coupled to the engine means;

an energy source means coupled to the circuit means; and

a device means that converts energy into mechanical energy coupled to the circuit, positioning sensing device means and the drive shaft means, the device means that converts energy being coupled to the energy source means to receive energy from the energy source means.

35. The system of claim 34, wherein the device means that converts energy is coupled through the circuit means to the energy source means.

36. The system of claim 34, wherein the position sensing device means is an accelerometer means.

37. The system of claim 36, wherein the accelerometer means determines position of the drive shaft means and at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

38. The system of claim 37, wherein accelerometer means does not require additional power than that required for determining the at least one of, door knocking, picking of the lock, break-in and unauthorized entry, door open and closing motion.

39. The system of claim 34, further comprising:

one or more motion transfer device means coupled to the drive shaft means to provide rotational movement of the drive shaft means.

40. The system of claim 34, wherein the positioning sensing device means in operation is coupled to a device that converts energy means that provides for moving the lock device means to at least one of a locked or unlocked positioned.

41. The system of claim 34, further comprising:

a manual activated door lock and unlock device means.

42. The system of claim 34, wherein the position sensing device means selected from at least one of, an accelerometer means, optical encoder means, magnetic encoder means, mechanical encoder means, Hall Effect sensor means, potentiometer means, contacts with tick means and an optical camera encoder means.
