1. A method comprising:
- receiving delay information relating to one or more network points, wherein the delay information represents one or more of link level delay, connection level delay, and class of service level delay;
comparing delay information to a threshold; and
when the delay information exceeds the threshold, executing a congestion control process associated with the one or more network points.

Abstract
Systems and methods for managing congestion in a network are disclosed. One method can comprise receiving delay information relating to one or more network points wherein the delay information represents one or more of link level delay, connection level delay, and class of service level delay. The method can also comprise comparing delay information to a threshold and if the delay information exceeds the threshold, executing a congestion control process associated with the one or more network points.

10. A method comprising:
-
determining delay information of at least a portion of a point-to-point network, point-to-multipoint network, or a multipoint-to-multipoint network; providing a threshold crossing alert based on the determined delay information; and modifying one or more of an ingress data rate and an egress data rate in response to the threshold crossing alert. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15)

-
receiving an indication of network delay, the indication relating to a service flow; determining an effective bandwidth for the service flow; and modifying one or more of an ingress data rate and an egress data rate associated with the service flow based upon the effective bandwidth determined and in response to the indication of network delay. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)
