Abstract

A wireless communication system is presented for multiple wireless technology coexistence in a mobile device. A method according to this application might include obtaining one or more transmit allocation parameters for a wireless transmission via a first radio technology at a first wireless processor and the preparing to receive wireless data via a second radio technology at a second wireless processor. Next, the exemplary method might request that the wireless transmission be deferred, followed by deciding whether to grant the deferral request based at least on the one or more transmit allocation parameters.

Claims

1. A method for multiple wireless technology coexistence in a mobile device, comprising:

obtaining one or more transmit allocation parameters for a wireless transmission via a first radio technology at a first wireless processor;

preparing to receive wireless data via a second radio technology at a second wireless processor;

requesting that the wireless transmission be deferred; and

deciding whether to grant the deferral request based at least on the one or more transmit allocation parameters.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first radio technology is an LTE technology, the first wireless processor is an LTE processor and the wireless transmission is an LTE wireless transmission.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the one or more transmit allocation parameters include:

a transmit power, a number of resource blocks and a transmit frequency.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the second radio technology is a Wi-Fi technology, the second wireless processor is a Wi-Fi processor and the wireless data is Wi-Fi data.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein requesting deferral includes sending a message between the first wireless processor and the second wireless processor.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the message is sent from the second wireless processor to the first wireless processor.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein deciding whether to grant includes:

comparing at least one transmit allocation parameter to a limit for the at least one transmit allocation parameter; and

based at least on the comparison, deferring the wireless transmission.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein comparing the at least one transmit allocation parameter includes comparing a plurality of transmit allocation parameters to a limit for each respective one of the plurality of transmit parameters.

9. An apparatus for Wi-Fi-LTE coexistence in a user equipment (UE), comprising:

an LTE wireless processor configured to obtain one or more LTE transmit allocation parameters for an LTE transmission;

a Wi-Fi wireless processor configure to prepare to receive Wi-Fi data;

wherein the Wi-Fi wireless processor is further configured to request that the LTE transmission be deferred; and

wherein the LTE wireless processor is further configured to decide whether to grant the deferral request based at least on the one or more LTE transmit allocation parameters.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the one or more LTE transmit allocation parameters include:

a transmit power, a number of resource blocks and a transmit frequency.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the LTE wireless processor is further configured to:

compare at least one LTE transmit allocation parameter to a limit for the at least one LTE transmit allocation parameter; and

based at least on the comparison, defer the wireless transmission.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the one or more LTE transmit allocation parameters include:

a transmit power, a number of resource blocks and a transmit frequency.

13. A computer-program storage apparatus for multiple wireless technology coexistence in a mobile device comprising a memory having one or more software modules stored thereon, the one or more software modules being executable by one or more processors and the one or more software modules comprising:

code for obtaining one or more transmit allocation parameters for a wireless transmission via a first radio technology at a first wireless processor;

code for preparing to receive wireless data via a second radio technology at a second wireless processor;

code for requesting that the wireless transmission be deferred; and

code for deciding whether to grant the deferral request based at least on the one or more transmit allocation parameters.

14. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first radio technology is an LTE technology, the first wireless processor is an LTE processor and the wireless transmission is an LTE wireless transmission.

15. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 14, wherein the one or more transmit allocation parameters include:

a transmit power, a number of resource blocks and a transmit frequency.

16. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 14, wherein the second radio technology is a Wi-Fi technology, the second wireless processor is a Wi-Fi processor and the wireless data is Wi-Fi data.

17. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 13, wherein the code for requesting deferral includes code for sending a message between the first wireless processor and the second wireless processor.

18. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 17, wherein the message is sent from the second wireless processor to the first wireless processor.

19. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 13, wherein the code for deciding whether to grant includes:

code for comparing at least one transmit allocation parameter to a limit for the at least one transmit allocation parameter; and

code for based at least on the comparison, deferring the wireless transmission.

20. The computer-program storage apparatus of claim 19, wherein the code for comparing the at least one transmit allocation parameter includes code for comparing a plurality of transmit allocation parameters to a limit for each respective one of the plurality of transmit parameters.
