Abstract

In one instance, a system provides an electronic marketplace that matches designers, who can be geographically dispersed and who submit fashion designs into the system, with retailers and fashion companies, who are looking for designs to make finished garments and sale. The system can optionally include factories so that the designer, retailer can have the factories immediately fabricate the selected designs. Optionally, it may also include boutiques that are specialized version of the retailers looking for a particular product for a niche group or market. Other systems and methods are presented.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for creating an online design marketplace, the method comprising:

validating a plurality of designers as members of a plurality of approved designers using a data processing system;

receiving into the data processing system a first plurality of available designs from the plurality of designers;

validating, via the data processing system, a plurality of design purchasers as members of a plurality of approved purchasers;

presenting, via the data processing system, in response to a request, a second plurality of available designs to a first design purchaser of the plurality of design purchasers;

providing, via the data processing system, at least one design of the second plurality of available designs to the first design purchaser in exchange for purchase compensation from the first design purchaser; and

wherein the data processing system comprises;

one or more memories for holding data and instructions,

one or more processors associated with the one or more memories.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising providing at least a portion of the compensation to one or more of the plurality of designers who submitted designs purchased by the first design purchaser.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the data processing system further comprises communication network that comprises an Internet connection.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the second plurality of available designs contains fewer designs than the first plurality of available designs.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, via the data processing system, a message from one of the approved designers and delivering the message to a selected member of the approved purchasers or the approved designers.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, via the data processing system, a referral recommendation from an approved purchaser or an approved designer.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the step of validating the plurality of designers comprises comparing each designer'"'"'s identifying information with a look-up list and determining if the designer has consented to a most recent use agreement and if so, validating the designer and if not presenting a notification alert requiring assent to the most recent use agreement from the designer in order to move forward.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the step of presenting, via the data processing system, in response to a request, a second plurality of available designs to a first design purchaser of the plurality of design purchasers comprises:

presenting a design search criteria page, via the data processing system, to the first design purchaser to solicit design search criteria,

receiving the design search criteria,

using the design search criteria to search the first plurality of available designs and produce the second plurality of available designs based on the design search criteria.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving from at least one of the plurality of design purchasers, via the data processing system, a request to view an electronic design wall associated with the at least one design purchaser; and

presenting, via the data processing system, to the at least one of the plurality of design purchasers, an electronic design wall.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

presenting a dashboard of summary information to one of the plurality of approved design purchasers or one of the plurality of designers, at the request of the one, via the data processing system.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

accessing profile data for the first design purchaser to determine location of the first design purchasers and computing local tax owed to one or more local tax authorities and adding the local tax to the purchase compensation.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the step of receiving into the data processing system a first plurality of available designs from the plurality of designers further comprising comparing the first plurality of available designs received from the plurality of designers with a comparison resource to identify any designs that are substantially similar to other designs in the comparison resource.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

calculating a house percentage of the compensation to produce a commission and delivering the commission to house account.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the step of providing, via the data processing system, at least one design of the second plurality of available designs to the first design purchaser in exchange for compensation from the first design purchaser comprising receiving funds from a third-party payment service.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

validating a plurality of design manufacturers;

receiving manufacturing bid information from the plurality of design manufacturers corresponding to third plurality of available designs; and

providing a work order to at least one of the design manufacturers to manufacture at least one of the third plurality of available designs in exchange for receiving manufacture compensation from the first design purchaser who has purchased the at least one of the third plurality of available designs.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 1,

wherein the data processing system further comprises communication network that comprises an Internet connection;

wherein the second plurality of available designs contains fewer designs than the first plurality of available designs;

wherein the step of validating the plurality of designers comprises comparing each designer'"'"'s identifying information to a look-up list and determining if the designer has a most recent use agreement place and if so, validating the designer and if not presenting a pop-up alert requiring assent to the most recent use agreement from the designer in order to move forward.

wherein the step of presenting, via the data processing system, in response to a request, a second plurality of available designs to a first design purchaser of the plurality of design purchasers comprises;

presenting a design search criteria page, via the data processing system, to the first design purchaser to solicit design search criteria,

receiving the design search criteria, and

using the design search criteria to search the first plurality of available designs and produce the second plurality of available designs based on the design search criteria; and

further comprising;

providing at least a portion of the compensation to one or more of the plurality of designers who submitted designs purchased by the first design purchaser,

receiving, via the data processing system, a message from one of the approved designers and delivering the message to a selected member of the approved purchasers or the approved designers, and

receiving, via the data processing system, a referral recommendation from an approved purchaser or an approved designer.

17. An online market system for creating an online fashion design market, the system comprising:

one or more memories for storing data or instructions;

one or more processors associated with the one or more memories;

wherein the one or more processors or one or more memories are coupled to the Internet; and

wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is configured to perform the following steps;

validating a plurality of designers as approved designers,

receiving a plurality of available designs from the plurality of designers;

validating a plurality of design purchasers as approved design purchasers,

presenting at least one design of the plurality of designs to a design purchaser of the plurality of design purchasers in response to a request from the design purchaser,

receiving a selection from the design purchaser of a desired design from the at least one design of the plurality of designs of the previous step, and

providing the selected design to the design purchaser in exchange for purchase compensation.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

providing at least a portion of the compensation to one or more of the plurality of designers who submitted designs purchased by the first design purchaser.

19. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

receiving a message from one of the approved designers and delivering the message to a selected member of the approved purchasers or the approved designers.

20. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

receiving a referral recommendation from an approved purchaser or an approved designer.

The system of claim 17, wherein the step of validating the plurality of designers comprises comparing each designer'"'"'s identifying information with a look-up list and determining if the designer has consented to a most recent use agreement and if so, validating the designer and if not presenting an alert notification requiring assent to the most recent use agreement from the designer in order to move forward.

22. The system of claim 17, wherein the step of presenting at least one design of the plurality of designs to a design purchaser of the plurality of design purchasers in response to a request from the design purchaser comprises:

presenting a design search criteria page, via the data processing system, to the first design purchaser to solicit design search criteria,

receiving the design search criteria,

using the design search criteria to search the first plurality of available designs and produce the second plurality of available designs based on the design search criteria.

23. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following steps:

receiving from at least one of the plurality of design purchasers a request to view an electronic design wall associated with the at least one design purchaser; and

presenting to the at least one of the plurality of design purchasers, an electronic design wall.

24. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

presenting a dashboard of summary information to one of the plurality of approved design purchasers or one of the plurality of designers, at the request of said one.

25. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

accessing profile data for the first design purchaser to determine location of the first design purchasers and computing local tax owed to one or more local tax authorities and adding the local tax to the purchase compensation.

26. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

wherein the step of receiving a plurality of available designs from the plurality of designers further comprises comparing the first plurality of available designs received from the plurality of designers with a comparison resource to identify any designs that are substantially similar to other designs in the comparison resource.

27. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

calculating a house percentage of the compensation to produce a commission.

28. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more processors in association with the one or more memories is also configured to perform the following step:

validating a plurality of design manufacturers;

receiving manufacturing bid information from the plurality of design manufacturers corresponding to third plurality of available designs; and

providing a work order to at least one of the design manufacturers to manufacture at least one of the third plurality of available designs in exchange for receiving manufacture compensation from the first design purchaser who has purchased the at least one of the third plurality of available designs.

29. A machine readable medium embodying instructions, the instructions causing a data processing system to perform a method, the method comprising the steps of:

validating a plurality of designers as approved designers,

receiving a plurality of available designs from the plurality of designers;

validating a plurality of design purchasers as approved design purchasers,

presenting at least one design of the plurality of designs to a design purchaser of the plurality of design purchasers in response to a request from the design purchaser,

receiving a selection from the design purchaser of a desired design from the at least one design of the plurality of designs of the previous step, and

providing the selected design to the design purchaser in exchange for purchase compensation.

30. The machine readable medium embodying instructions of claim 29, wherein the method further includes the step of delivering at least a portion of the purchase compensation to the designer of the selected design.
