Abstract

In one embodiment, a method includes identifying a content object for display based at least in part on one or more filtering criteria. The filtering criteria is a measure of suitability of each content object for presentation based at least in part on social-graph information between a first user and one or more second users or a current geo-location of the first user. The method also includes applying the filtering criteria to the content object; and providing for display on a user interface (UI) the content object based on whether the content object is suitable for presentation based at least in part on the filtering criteria.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

by a computing device, identifying a content object for display based at least in part on one or more criteria, the criteria being based at least in part on social-graph information between a first user and one or more second users or a current geo-location of the first user;

by the computing device, applying the criteria to the content object; and

by the computing device, providing for display on a user interface (UI) the content object based on at least in part on the criteria.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein:

the social graph comprises a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, at least one node in the graph corresponding to the first user, at least one node in the graph corresponding to each second user; and

the social-graph information that the second users are identified is based at least in part on comprises at least one of the nodes corresponding to the first user and at least one of the nodes corresponding to each second user being connected to each other by an edge.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

by the computing device, dynamically identifying another content object based on one of the criteria being a current maturity threshold level; and

by the computing device, dynamically providing for display the other content object based on the dynamic identification.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

by the computing device, determining the current maturity threshold level based at least in part on the current geo-location of the computing device of the first user; and

by the computing device, determining a maturity rating of the other content object.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the identification comprises determining whether one or more of the content objects has been flagged as spam by one or more users of a social-networking system.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the identification comprises determining an amount of overlap between a user profile or social-graph information of the first user and one or more of the second users.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the computing device is a server computing device of a social-networking system.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein:

the computing device is a mobile computing device of the first user; and

the UI is a lock screen of the mobile computing device.

9. One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software configured when executed to:

identify a content object for display based at least in part on one or more criteria, the criteria being based at least in part on social-graph information between a first user and one or more second users or a current geo-location of the first user;

apply the criteria to the content object; and

provide for display on a user interface (UI) the content object based on at least in part on the criteria.

10. The media of claim 9, wherein:

the social graph comprises a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, at least one node in the graph corresponding to the first user, at least one node in the graph corresponding to each second user; and

the social-graph information that the second users are identified is based at least in part on comprises at least one of the nodes corresponding to the first user and at least one of the nodes corresponding to each second user being connected to each other by an edge.

11. The media of claim 9, further comprising:

dynamically identify another content object based on one of the criteria being a current maturity threshold level; and

dynamically provide for display the other content object based on the dynamic identification.

12. The media of claim 11, further comprising:

determine the current maturity threshold level based at least in part on the current geo-location of the computing device of the first user; and

determine a maturity rating of the other content object.

13. The media of claim 9, wherein the identification comprises determine whether one or more of the content objects has been flagged as spam by one or more users of a social-networking system.

14. The media of claim 9, wherein the identification comprises determine an amount of overlap between a user profile or social-graph information of the first user and one or more of the second users.

15. The media of claim 9, wherein the media is a coupled to a processor of a server computing device of a social-networking system.

16. The media of claim 9, wherein:

the media is coupled to a processor of a mobile computing device of the first user; and

the UI is a lock screen of the mobile computing device.

17. A device comprising:

a processor; and

one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media coupled to the processor and embodying software that;

identify a content object for display based at least in part on one or more criteria, the criteria being based at least in part on social-graph information between a first user and one or more second users or a current geo-location of the first user;

apply the criteria to the content object; and

provide for display on a user interface (UI) the content object based on at least in part on the criteria.

18. The device of claim 17, further comprising:

dynamically identify another content object based on one of the criteria being a current maturity threshold level; and

dynamically provide for display the other content object based on the dynamic identification.

19. The device of claim 18, further comprising:

determine the current maturity threshold level based at least in part on the current geo-location of the computing device of the first user; and

determine a maturity rating of the other content object.

20. The device of claim 17, wherein the identification comprises determine whether one or more of the content objects has been flagged as spam by one or more users of a social-networking system.
