An automated personal assistant system (APAS) that can provide automated personal assistance to a user of an electronic device, such as a smartphone or a vehicle head unit. In one example of the APAS, a user may receive a route to a requested destination that may include at least one point of interest along the route to the requested destination based on responses to questions presented to the user. The point of interest may be an individual point of interest or a joint point of interest, for example.
