Abstract

Techniques associated with a combination speaker and light source (“speaker-light device”) responsive to states of an organism based on sensor data are described, including generating motion sensor data in response to a movement captured using a motion sensor, deriving movement data using a motion analysis module configured to determine the movement to be associated with one or more of a gesture, an identity, and an activity, using the motion sensor data, generating acoustic sensor data in response to sound captured using an acoustic sensor, deriving audio data using a noise removal module configured to subtract a noise signal from the acoustic sensor data, detecting a radio frequency signal using a communication facility, the radio frequency being associated with a personal device, obtaining state data from the personal device, and determining a desired light characteristic using the state data and one or both of the movement data and the audio data.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

generating motion sensor data in response to a movement captured using a motion sensor implemented in a speaker-light device;

deriving movement data, by a motion analysis module, using the motion sensor data, the motion analysis module configured to determine the movement to be associated with one or more of a gesture, an identity, and an activity;

generating acoustic sensor data in response to sound captured using an acoustic sensor implemented in the speaker-light device;

deriving audio data, by a noise removal module, using the acoustic sensor data, the noise removal module configured to subtract a noise signal from the acoustic sensor data;

detecting a radio frequency signal using a communication facility, the radio frequency signal being associated with a personal device;

obtaining state data from the personal device;

determining a desired light characteristic using the state data and one or both of the movement data and the audio data.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a light control signal associated with the desired light characteristic, the light control signal configured to modify a light output by a light source.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a light control signal configured to modify a color of a light output.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a light control signal configured to modify a hue of a light output.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a light control signal configured to generate a light pattern using a light source.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a desired audio characteristic using the state data and one or both of the movement data and the audio data.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising generating an audio control signal configured to modify an audio output by a speaker.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising generating an audio control signal configured to play an audio content.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining a physiological state using physiological sensor data being captured using one or more physiological sensors disposed in the personal device; and

generating the state data based on the physiological state.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the audio data is associated with ambient sound.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the audio data is associated with speech.

12. The method of claim 1, further comprising sending one or more of the movement data, the audio data, and the state data to another device, the another device configured to generate a control signal.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the control signal comprises a light control signal associated with a desired light characteristic to be applied to a light output by the speaker-light device.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the control signal comprises an audio control signal associated with a desired audio characteristic to be applied to an audio output by the speaker-light device.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein the deriving movement data comprises determining the movement to be associated with a gesture command.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising retrieving a profile associated with the gesture command, wherein the desired light characteristic is associated with the profile.

17. The method of claim 1, further comprising retrieving a profile associated with the activity, wherein the desired light characteristic is associated with the profile.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein the deriving movement data comprises determining the motion sensor data to be associated with a motion fingerprint stored in a profile, the motion fingerprint being associated with an identity.

19. The method of claim 1, wherein the deriving audio data comprises subtracting the noise signal from the acoustic sensor data.
