Abstract

A method for UL control signaling for carrier aggregation, CoMP and/or eICIC is disclosed. The method includes determining whether multiple FB (such as, a plurality of FB each for one channel of a multiple of channels, a plurality of FB regarding one channel (CSI, A/N, etc.), etc. for example) is to be simultaneously transmitted. The multiple FB are related to at least one CA, CoMP and/or eICIC transmission. A RS resource for an UL control signal message is selected. The RS resource includes an indication that the multiple FB is present in the UL control signal message. The method jointly encodes the multiple FB. The UL control signal message including the indication and the jointly encoded multiple FB is transmitted from a UE to a network element. Apparatus and computer readable media are also disclosed.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining whether multiple feedback is to be simultaneously transmitted, where the multiple feedback are related to at least one of;

a carrier aggregation transmission, a coordinated multi-point transmission and an enhanced inter-cell interference coordination transmission;

selecting a reference signal resource for an uplink control signal message, where the reference signal resource comprises an indication that the multiple feedback is present in the uplink control signal message;

jointly encoding the multiple feedback; and

transmitting, from a user equipment, the uplink control signal message comprising the indication and the jointly encoded multiple feedback to a network element.

2. The method of claim 1, where the multiple feedback comprise at least one of channel state information and acknowledge/negative-acknowledge data.

3. The method of claim 1, where the indication is an uplink control signaling format indicator.

4. The method of claim 1, where the indication indicates a resource on which a data modulation reference signal is transmitted.

5. The method of claim 4, where the resource is at least one of:

an orthogonal cover code and a cyclic shift.

6. The method of claim 1, where transmitting comprises transmitting the uplink control signal message on a physical uplink control channel.

7. A method comprising:

receiving, from a user equipment, an uplink control signal message at a network element, where the uplink control signal message comprises a reference signal resource comprising an indicator; and

determining a payload size of the uplink control signal message based at least in part on the indicator.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising determining whether multiple feedback were simultaneously transmitted based on the indicator, where the feedback is related to at least one carrier aggregation transmission

9. An apparatus, comprising at least one processor;

and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following;

to determine whether multiple feedback is to be simultaneously transmitted, where the multiple feedback are related to at least one of;

a carrier aggregation transmission, a coordinated multi-point transmission and an enhanced inter-cell interference coordination transmission;

to select a reference signal resource for an uplink control signal message, where the reference signal resource comprises an indication that the multiple feedback is present in the uplink control signal message;

to jointly encode the multiple feedback; and

to transmit, from a user equipment, the uplink control signal message comprising the indication and the jointly encoded multiple feedback to a network element.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, where the multiple feedback comprise at least one of channel state information and acknowledge/negative-acknowledge data.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, where the indication is an uplink control signaling format indicator.

12. The apparatus of claim 9, where the indication indicates a resource on which a data modulation reference signal is transmitted.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, where the resource is at least one of:

an orthogonal cover code and a cyclic shift.

14. The apparatus of claim 9, where, when transmitting, the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to cause the apparatus to transmit the uplink control signal message on a physical uplink control channel.

15. An apparatus comprising:

receiving, from a user equipment, an uplink control signal message at a network element, where the uplink control signal message comprises a reference signal resource comprising an indicator; and

determining a payload size of the uplink control signal message based at least in part on the indicator.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to cause the apparatus to determine whether multiple feedback were simultaneously transmitted based on the indicator, where the feedback is related to at least one carrier aggregation transmission

17. A computer readable medium tangibly encoded with a computer program executable by a processor to perform actions comprising:

determining whether multiple feedback is to be simultaneously transmitted, where the multiple feedback are related to at least one of;

a carrier aggregation transmission, a coordinated multi-point transmission and an enhanced inter-cell interference coordination transmission;

selecting a reference signal resource for an uplink control signal message, where the reference signal resource comprises an indication that the multiple feedback is present in the uplink control signal message;

jointly encoding the multiple feedback; and

transmitting, from a user equipment, the uplink control signal message comprising the indication and the jointly encoded multiple feedback to a network element.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 17, where the multiple feedback comprise at least one of channel state information and acknowledge/negative-acknowledge data.

19. The computer readable medium of claim 17, where the indication is an uplink control signaling format indicator.

20. The computer readable medium of claim 17, where the indication indicates a resource on which a data modulation reference signal is transmitted.

21. The computer readable medium of claim 20, where the resource is at least one of:

an orthogonal cover code and a cyclic shift.

22. The computer readable medium of claim 17, where transmitting comprises transmitting the uplink control signal message on a physical uplink control channel.

23. A computer readable medium tangibly encoded with a computer program executable by a processor to perform actions comprising:

receiving, from a user equipment, an uplink control signal message at a network element, where the uplink control signal message comprises a reference signal resource comprising an indicator; and

determining a payload size of the uplink control signal message based at least in part on the indicator.

24. The computer readable medium of claim 23, where the actions further comprise determining whether multiple feedback were simultaneously transmitted based on the indicator, where the feedback is related to at least one carrier aggregation transmission

25. An apparatus comprising:

means for determining whether multiple feedback is to be simultaneously transmitted, where the multiple feedback are related to at least one of;

a carrier aggregation transmission, a coordinated multi-point transmission and an enhanced inter-cell interference coordination transmission;

means for selecting a reference signal resource for an uplink control signal message, where the reference signal resource comprises an indication that the multiple feedback is present in the uplink control signal message;

means for jointly encoding the multiple feedback; and

means for transmitting, from a user equipment, the uplink control signal message comprising the indication and the jointly encoded multiple feedback to a network element.

26. The apparatus of claim 25, where the multiple feedback comprise at least one of channel state information and acknowledge/negative-acknowledge data.

27. The apparatus of claim 25, where the indication is an uplink control signaling format indicator.

28. The apparatus of claim 25, where the indication indicates a resource on which a data modulation reference signal is transmitted.

29. The apparatus of claim 28, where the resource is at least one of:

30. The apparatus of claim 25, where the transmitting means comprises means for transmitting the uplink control signal message on a physical uplink control channel.

31. An apparatus comprising:

means for receiving, from a user equipment, an uplink control signal message at a network element, where the uplink control signal message comprises a reference signal resource comprising an indicator; and

means for determining a payload size of the uplink control signal message based at least in part on the indicator.

32. The apparatus of claim 31, further comprising means for determining whether multiple feedback were simultaneously transmitted based on the indicator, where the feedback is related to at least one carrier aggregation transmission
